Interesting and predictable.

From a simple observation of reality you'll find that nothing is inherently flawed.

Everything is flawed. How we overcome those flaws, or find solutions to fix those flaws, describes volumes about the nature of those who take up the challenges placed before them.

The best response was

I take it you are not a Jedi?

By what measure did you come to this conclusion?

I am not here to criticize, nor "tear apart" anything. More, bring together, that which has been parted. A defensive posture shows that the one on the defense, knows without being shown. If they look and not just react.

Would we set rules and guidelines to cover every situation that all members must strictly adhere to; like so many other religions have…

This is but one flaw. There should be no "Rule Book", only truths.
Truth can not be interpreted anyway, but what is. Truth has to be followed, if its true.

Xon-Tay Lor Seems to be the only one with practical suggestions, yet I dont think anyone even noticed. You wrote

The strongly Christian flavor of this site doesn't quite jibe with my vision of Jediism.

To this I would say, that truths, no matter the source, are still truths. Your vision, is but one aspect of something Much larger. Your path to the truth, may be different, but our destinations are all the same.

There are two main flaws to be overcome.
Human nature, being the biggest one.
The duality made manifest by the doctrine.

Would we set rules and guidelines to cover every situation that all members must strictly adhere to; like so many other religions have… thus creating internal dissention where people wish to break off and start their own sect/group? Or would it not be better to allow a certain amount of freedom?

Was the whole quote. I wrote it like that as a question for the purpose of individual interpretation.

To this I would say, that truths, no matter the source, are still truths. Your vision, is but one aspect of something Much larger. Your path to the truth, may be different, but our destinations are all the same.

The duality made manifest by the doctrine.

“Truth can not be taught, it can not be learned, it must be discovered.”
Also, it has been said that, "Discovery is the rape of the natural world."

Human nature is the truth of being human.

The duality made manifest stems from the point of view of a more modern Morality, which is the differentiation of intentions, decisions, and actions between those that are "good" (or right) and those that are "bad" (or wrong). There is an inherent duality to this line on thinking. Which is not what most of us teach.

Everything is flawed. How we overcome those flaws, or find solutions to fix those flaws, describes volumes about the nature of those who take up the challenges placed before them.

How we overcome, or find solutions, describes volumes about the nature of those who take up the challenges placed before them… is how I would have written that particular statement. Not saying you’re wrong; but, we see things differently. ;)

How so?

A stranger comes to town, full of himself and his opinions, and, when he is not met with open arms, he sits back and act smug...

Dude, you know so little, I wonder if you realize it...

No, I disagree, everything is perfect the way it is... Is the room to grow, adapt and change?

Yes, of course, and then things will be prefect for then...;)

If you cant see that, then you are as perfect as most...

Things merely 'are' as they are supposed to be... Your "flawed" or "perfect' judgment means little to most of us...;)

The Jedi and/or their religion

By this comment, where you seem to be excluding yourself... The little question mark means I am not certain, and am looking for clarification...:)

Um, these are things we have addressed in other forums, and really, it seems you are the one looking for the conversation...

Xon has offered his opinion, and is aware (I am pretty sure) where we stand... So instead of rehashing, we chose to focus on your comments...:)

If you reread his post, you will see I have editted it.. Therefore, I have read it...;)

Yea, be more specific please....

And, yea, you are trying to tear it down...;)

Which is cool, we do welcome change, but, we dont know you, and you could be full of crap...

This site is 7 years old... In 7 years, many ideas have come up... We are not sitting here waiting for wise folks to show up and tell us how we are doing it wrong... Ideas get brought up, discussed and decided upon... THen they get brought up again later... and decided upon again, then new ide3as, then some old ideas, then some new and modigfied ideas then some ideas that are totally different fromwhat they were before...

This site evolves, slowly, while you are in the now, but is vastly different from when I joined, and still different from last year, and still from last month... although the changes are slow, and less noticeable the closer you stand to them...:)

You are new here take a look around...

On walk-about...

I can't wait to see an organization - even just a website - with no rules and ranks. Is there one?

You seem to understand.
I will say thank you, instead of hitting the button, for the hope. Not all are lost.

I would ask you

“Truth can not be taught, it can not be learned, it must be discovered.”
Also, it has been said that, "Discovery is the rape of the natural world."

I'm unfamiliar With the rape quote. Do you feel truth is unattainable? or shouldnt be pursued, by these two statements?
Also

Human nature is the truth of being human.

Does it always have to be so? Can we not out grow, the "Ego"?

Jestor, Why so hostile? I have giving nothing, but gained a glimpse.

I am here to find out the true nature of those that consider, themselves, Jedi.
AM I a "Jedi"? In a word no, in another Yes. The Name, Jedi, is meaningless.
I am of the Force. It guides me, and is with me. I understand.

Br. John,

Think beyond the rules.
Not saying change any you may have.

The rules most think I meant are for the young, of mind, and spirit.
The rules of which I speak, are universal.
