Origins? No...basis of popular inflation? Most definitely.

That's the key source of the criticism now, no? "It's a movie?"

Christianity used to be a cult. Hell, in some parts of the world Mormon is still considered one. Scientology was originally a bet and was created by a bad sci-fi writer. Jedi, and Sith, maybe, could in time, outlast the fiction, if the people who hold to it last.

What i see us becoming and what i'd like us to be are to different things.

I'd like us to be both a self help group and an aid organization...basically I'd like us to to be what ever humanity need us to be. We have the open mind to be just that and that should be our inner goal.

However this isn't our future. =/

By the looks of things we going to become what we already are, a school...much like any other school. Nothing wrong with that at least at first glance.

Still I have faith in my fellow Jedi and I'll stand with all of you even if its not in the direction I wish we could go in.

May The Force Be With Us.

Maybe adopt the principles of the First Earth Battallion?

Ha funny how I was just Re-Reading men who stare at goats the other day. Yes us being a non-violent militant force would be effective in terms of peacekeeping. But it would have to be seperate it from this "school".

My copy of The Men Who Stare At Goats came in the other day and I'm halfway through. I've got a copy of the First Earth Battallion operations manual on the way.

I wasn't advocating the Jedi Movement becoming a nonviolent military force, but hell, if we're going to look at that murky, dark and twisty road, why not neighbourhood watches and other such activities while we're at it?

Indeed. The last thing we need is another army.

Like I said we should be what ever humanity needs us to be and humanity needs another army as much as they need another politician.

There are other ways to teach and protect. The people here aren't stupid I've seen some great minds come here so its possible to make something new something thats actually needed.

I think these are noble goals and we should aspire to them. But I feel that TOTJO is also what it is needed as now.

Perhaps in the future, a self-help group and an aid organization could be incorporated into what we do? Options that our members could choose to participate in. But I also feel that we will always “need” our academic roots; a foundation that newcomers can build from.
