Meditation is a wonderfull thing. Try it you'll like it.

Then stop talking and start sitting. Sitting comes first, understanding will come from the experiencing. It takes time.

If meditation and hypnosis are similar,

I did the self hypnosis thing, other than being deeply relaxed it's not the same.

Im looking at meditation like a bug under a microscope so I can figure it out...

There way to figure it out is by doing. Stop looking and start doing.

It is that simple.

I think you have monkey mind. :woohoo: :)

100% what I was taught, 100% what I've experienced.

The form of meditation I was taught, is the in between state, between waking and sleeping, between consciousness and unconsciousness, an extremely deep state of trance with the bodies metabolism slows down to the point of being pronounced clinically dead.

Once this state is obtained then and only then can the real work begin.

All

How much of what is being written is intelectual discussion and research?

How much is from personal meditation?

I'd like to know what your meditation practices are and how long have you been doing them?

That would help me to understand where you are coming from and why you say what you do.

I'm willing to learn something.

Thanks

Excelent! So we do agree after all. :)

How long have you been doing this and how do you do it?

5 years 10-15 hours per week.

You just relax, almost like you do when you fall asleep, your breathing slows down more and more as you become relaxed. It can take 5+ hours to get deep enough, after a while no longer will you be able to perceive the world outside of yourself, nor will you be asleep and unconscious. Then when you have hit the zone the real training can begin.

I will not present myself as an expert on this or any other subject, but it seems to me that self-hypnosis might differ in terminology and methodology, but the goal and end results remain identical...so I would call them, essentially, the same thing. If you're doing one, and you're good at it, I would say that you can apply that knowledge and those results to the other for comparison purposes. And that would keep you off of the dangerous and slippery slope of comparing your results to someone else's.

I ment self-hypnosis. Try it it won't hurt and may only help you discover something new. It's was one of many things I tinkered with early on in my meditation quest.

If you can't open your mind how can you empty it. ;)

What do you do for meditation and how long have you done it?
