Why do you feel that it needs to be?

Well, to acheive the results they are touting it is for...

Overall, I am a pretty relaxed guy... I can relax when it is time to relax, and work till the guy next to me drops...

My boundless energy is not a 'cant sit still' kinda energy... Its the 'I am not tired, till the job is done' kinda energy...

Pick any reason for meditation:

Lets pick 36- Builds self-confidence....

Now, if I needed to build my self confidence, and someone said, "first, relax and close your eyes... And envision yourself as you wish to see yourself, strong, boisterous, confident"... blah, blah...

I can see this as a form of meditation, working in that way... I can see the example and follow suit...

But what if I want to lose weight: 31- Normalizes to your ideal weight, then how do I know if I am meditating on that?

Once the learning is done, the forms flow from me, as do the moves and combinations... I am one with the movement...

This sounds like meditation to me, stilling the mind and folding yourself into the moment, all that you really have left to do is to turn your focus inward.

I feel it is, but I am looking to compare so I know my results are on target...

If we were learning to ski, i would follow your lead, and imitate to insure my result approximated yours... After I learned your way kinda, I would find exactly what works for me...:)

As for being able to warm yourself, I kid you not, I just had this conversation this very morning with my co-worker... When my hands are cold, (they were saturday at a meeting I had) I generated some body heat by 'Ki'ing up my energy, and my hands became warm...

My father had this "party trick" that he used to do where he would, thru the power of his focus alone, make one hand cold and the other hot...

Now, I have a new trick to try... ;)

IF I am meditating, but dont know it, then how do I read on it to do the particualr type I am doing? surely there are more efficent ways to do it, lol...

Didn't you say you were, as best you could figure by the info that Maynoth supplied, practicing Mindfulness Meditation? Why not start by reading up on that?

Yep...;)

Sent link to phone....:)

Jestor, you're making a mountain out of a molehill.

lol, right?

Have any of you been hypnotized? Is it like that?

I am under an almost constant state of hypnosis, (I sound so hippy, lol, and I shave my head...lol)...

Hypnosis is a state of hypersensitivity to the world around you... At least as I understand it...

I am very NOW, and very HERE, Do to some hypnosis Ive undergone, plus some self hypnosis I am learning/ have learned...

Sometimes something does happen next, depending on the school you study.

All schools do not produce the same results, nor share the same goal.

As much as I wish it was true that all practices do the same thing and have the same results and take you to the same destination, they don't.

Don't listen to people who tell you there are "better" meditations than others, because ultimately they are all just intentional focus.

Wouldnt some yeild better results in certain aspects than others?

Im just asking...

Ford, Chevy, Ferrari, Porsche... They are all cars...

Yet one is better than other, for purposes...

Cant haul a family of five in a porsche or ferrari...

Cant drive 150 miles an hour as safely in a taurus or cavalier...

Andy,

That's simply just not true.

Some meditations are indeed better for certain purposes, others are better for other purposes.

It really depends on what you are trying to achieve.

Not all forms of meditation revolve around an internal or external object of focus either.

not that i've found.

Practice "soups up" what ever it is your driving. And if course if speed was the point, drugs get you a delta brain wave state faster than sitting quietly.

And maynoth, I know how indoctrinated you are to your brand of energy work so I am not going to down that road.

I am not even talking about my school.

Even if my school didn't exist it would still be true that there are thousands of different types and forms of meditation, each with their own functions and purposes.
