That's not what I'm talking about, I'm saying, why so much negative thinking.

It is not perfect in the west. The media is not about truth unfortunately, and instead 'interesting stories that reflect the truth to some extent' for the purpose of keeping people's attention and perhaps even an element of entertainment. If people want to actually learn something they have to research it themselves which is where freedom of speech comes into it, being able to research it yourself without unrealistic restrictions on content.

that is indeed incorrect. Turks are not persian.

I think Iran has such a bad reputation because Bush declared it part of the axis of evil or something. i think it's all because the US (and the UK I think?) didn't like the democratically elected government there, got rid of it, replaced it with a more suitable autocratic one. To the dismay of the US, that government was replaced with the islamic republic of iran after a new revolution. They just hate you guys.

I think that is an unfair and untrue generalization ren. I do NOT hate anyone and I am from the US.

Rather a government was replaced for some political reason is beyond my knowledge at present and I can look into it, but to say we (as country) hate another is not very admirable in my opinion. And that is how it read.

Even if it was meant as a jest!

Ren, as a US citizen I am offended by your last statement. Your generalization can incite the uninformed.

The true issue is not Bush, terrorism, or any other issue other than this...

The squeaky wheel gets the grease! The Loud minority drowns out the silent majority. Most Americans do not wish to be in conflict with Iran, but the governments of the 2 countries are playing a dangerous game with the lives of the innocent citizens of both countries. WE THE PEOPLE of BOTH countries need to stand up to our officials and demand or TAKE BACK control of our nations from the loud minority.

It is the difference of judging the individual vs the stereotyping of a group or nation. Iran's political leadership, ALONG with my/our political leadership needs to be changed if we are to change the views of the world. This is why I am running for office on the local level.

Everyone wants to blame others, but the truth is, WE the SLEEPING majority, NEED to WAKE UP! IT IS OUR FAULT!

That includes you REN!

Sajjad Heydari,

The views of your country are, to the uninformed and unintelligent, skewed by the media and the governments of our 2 great nations. What makes our countries great are its people, not our governing members. I personally know several Iranians and I believe them to be good people.

It is sad that we fight like street thugs over land that we don't own, over an earth that knows no master other than the universal laws of nature. Our governments act like gangs fighting over 2 blocks of city streets while they overlook that as a people we can own the universe.

I will not and can not apologize for the acts of past events and leaders, but I can state that I, as many Americans, are working to correct policy issues regarding foreign governments, as I hope people in your country, and other countries, are doing the same.

I take this as my role as a Jedi!

Basicly what Phortis said. I know USA will make out "Islam" people to be hardcore ragers, radicals and dangerous to the populace. Our government can have a wonderful job dictating about what every newspaper, magazine, and tv can have on. Though it isn't as extreme yet.

There's a lot wrong with USA, like political prisoners (anarchists, and I know a journalist) are being held without bail because of NDAA. Hell, the SOPA & PIPA just tried to censor our internet. So our world is far from pretty and we are so close to a state where we no longer have any freedom.

It's easier to make everyone go to war against a perceived "evil" than to think of them as simple human beings like you and I, who have parents, children, love, and hurt.

A guy being in prison and a failed attempt to censure our Internet doesn't mean our freedom is almost gone.

Stop beating around the bush. Iran funds terrorists, won't let the UN see if they are building weapons, censure media, imprision and execute dissidents, kidnaps anyone who goes into the country outside of government sanction, and the president is an all around jerk. I have nothing against the people of Iran, but the government is awful.

There is a Wikipedia page dedicated to the awful things Iran has done. Check it out.

Considering what the US did to iran you have no right to criticize me or my views. I don't know why the US is still, to this day, so worked up about Iran. but the fact is, your ancestors screwed their freedom and right to self determination. that is historical fact. And wescli, since you are asking, the reason for all this at first was the nationalisation of the petroleum industry, a popular decision in every country that does so. And the US still plagues Iran with embargoes.

Are you trying to tell me your country has worked hard to deprive them of their freedom, self determination, wealth and honor (by calling them "evil") because you love them? Give me a break. Actions speak louder than words. You cannot hide behind statements like "it's not us, it's the government". You voted for the bastards, and while the US college voting system is not perfect, it seems accurate to say that a majority voted for someone who called Iranians "evil". twice.
