I agree with Ren. Most if not all the problems of the Middle East in modern times are due to western influence. That however does not absolve them of responsibility for their actions.

ADDITION: This is why I don't vote. I won't be responsible for these not-nice-guys-with-questionable-intelligence ruining the world.

That's what Media says it. I'd rather stay out of the Middle East personally. They have their own way of live, it almost feels like the native american stuff all over again, let's make them civilized ! Let's bring them culture and into this modern era !

It's easier to make everyone go to war against a perceived "evil" than to think of them as simple human beings like you and I, who have parents, children, love, and hurt.

Yeah, I feel you...this year I don't want to vote because I hate both...but for me, Romney is more evil, constantly changing his tune being against health issues (and not just gay rights). Copulate economics, economic plans are great but you got congress to deal with.

I couldn't dislike politics any more then I do. It's too bad the study of religion is so often a study in politics too.

I admit that not everything everyone does is admirable but I did not “vote” the current administration “in” (I did not vote for a majority of those that got into office) and the actions of some do not represent the thoughts and hearts of all. Being a Jedi, I figured you would understand that.

Each person should have the opportunity to stand on their own without being judged by the actions of their neighbors.

And I was not criticizing you or your beliefs. I simply said that…

I think that is an unfair and untrue generalization ren. I do NOT hate anyone and I am from the US.

To criticize the US is ok for you, but we can't criticize you?

First off, this is a discussion group, so discuss. An exchange on ideas and a point of view is mandatory. NO MALICE is intended. Just strong opinions, and I respect yours.

The US is not perfect, it has flaws in its system of government. We each have a vote in this country but majority rules. It's not my personal fault that the uninformed and the leaches of society have voted for our past elected officials, but I keep trying to reform it by voting. TO NOT VOTE IS GIVING UP YOUR SAY IN HOW YOU ARE GOVERNED, SO YOU HAVE NO RIGHT TO TALK HERE! The government is the way it is because you sheep get chased around the barnyard by geese. VOTE OR STAY SILENT! YOU GAVE UP YOUR RIGHT, NOT ME! In this discussion of political beliefs, only the voter, the participant of governing and citizenship, has merit.

Sorry for the strong words, but grow a set!

Ren, you are knowledgeable are correct in many of your views. Please don't let your aversion to the US political system skew your view of its people as a whole. At least that's the feeling I get from your typed words. If I am wrong in my interpretation, I apologize.

I didn't criticize the US. I have said what, to the best of my knowledge in history, happened. And if I am wrong in my statement that the US hates iran, I'd like to see evidence to the contrary. because for the past 60 years, when it comes to iran, you guys have been acting like a bunch of very angry ex-wifes.

Also, the president isn't the only guy in government. I believe certain (many) things are being done by your congress, composed of representatives and senators, all of whom are directly elected by the people.

the u.s. and iran have a love/hate relationship....in the past we have helped them and armed them and trained them...then they turn around and bite the hand that feeds (just like the taliban in the past)..such is the nature of man...

politicians are supposed to act with their supporters best interest in mind, however money can change that real easy...as the saying goes "money talks and bull$$hit walks"....

in the end politicians are just people...subject to greed and selfishness just like anyone else...we'd like to think that we're voting for the right guy, sometimes it works out sometimes not...

Understood. I apologize for misunderstanding the structure of your comments.

I know there is more than the president to government, the ballot list is long. We who vote through thoughtful consideration to candidate qualifications and opinions, keep trying to correct the problems of our government. I feel it is still the best (as originally designed, see constitution) form of government available at this time.

Iran wasn't innocent in this whole matter either. As they say, it takes 2 to tango. As for very angry ex-wives. LOL

They helped the autocratic government they put in place there after crushing their democracy. That's biting the hand that punched you, not the one that fed you...

I agree that there are many things being done at several levels of government (past and present) that are not in the best interest of ALL parties involved. And I think that this stems (in part) from a difference in social structures and value systems that are in place among two different groups.

And we vote on members in all levels of government and I still did not vote for many that are currently, and have been, in office.
