I don't keep a facebook because I've found that it keeps me more disconnected to the world around me, instead of connected, since I see the world through the framework of FB....and the superficial things that FB values, the "way" you are supposed to present yourself on there and the limited categories that are available to do so, as if the categories that are created by MZ are all that are important in life. How close are FB friends really, anyway? I like that when I want to talk to someone, I skype them, or I come here to find out what's going on with the community here instead of passively examining a FB page. Such disconnection, such a view of reality through a lens.
Plus, FB leads to questions like, "why does person X have more friends than person Y? Why is person X spending more time with person Y than me and we're best friends/dating/whatever? Screw person Y!" etc. Which is an exaggeration of how I felt 4 years ago when I kept FB, but this stuff really comes up. Not saying that FB is incapable of making anyone happy or that it always does more harm than good -- I'm all for people doing things that make them happy when they do not infringe on others (does facebook infringe on others?). But for me it definitely did not contribute to my happiness.
I wrote a brief little paper a year or two ago about FB and the dangers of its superficiality, I could try to find it if there's interest...

The mere fact they feel it is necessary to pass a law to prevent current or prospective employers from demanding credentials to access people's private life is very worrying.
And just so you guys know, private life is a human right. (in the EU)

I'm not going to lie, I absolutely hate Facebook. I'm serious!!! I just wanna close it and forget about it, but I don't in case I need to contact someone. Now they have this timeline thingy that's even more pointless and creepy. Gwahh!
