I'm 13 and joined a while back ( 3 weeks ago I think ) and recently told my mom, she laughed and dismissed me saying that's stupid and there's no such thing, my dad,on the other side is all with me, he himself is open to anything, my mom thinks I'm crazy and being ticked, then I showed and explained to her the benefits and that I'm happy, she accepts it( but not my entire family), so If anyone here is having the same problem, you don't need to tell them right away, and they will love you no matter what, and no one cam tell you what to believe in, it's your right to choose and they can't do anything about it ( except many smash the computer, lol) my advice is, don't be scared

i told my mum but she said i should stop. not meaning to ofend but she said that everyone here, including the minors, are pedophiles and that your aims are to rape me. i dont believe that but im always careful. she wants me to talk to a monk (as she is buddhist)to learn from him. i will ask his opinion but until they destroy this computer i will continue coming to this site. i dont give away my personal details so i dont see why i cant continue with the studies. like kenobi4582 said, my parents think it is made up from a movie or a con to draw me towards one religion.

I wouldn't, no offense to the Buddhist monks, but I've met a former monk that left to become an MP...and that guy was so metaphysically confused it wasn't funny....Love X to death, but the guy has some serious misunderstandings of his role with the entities around him... >.>, but the guy is mystically intelligent, just doesn't apply common sense. Just do me a favor and if you talk with a monk to learn, take what he says with a grain of salt if he delves into talks of spirits and their influence in this world.

Of course, my former monk was from another country, so you might get one more down to earth...I hope.

Well, I am plenty sure of the fact that nobody at the Temple will ever try to do such horrible things to another. Jediism is focused on acceptance and peace. I understand why your parents are worried about you in this fashion, but the basis of their fears is that they simply do not understand your interest nor the actual values that are present here. I highly suggest that you contact one of the masters, such as Master Jestor or any of the others. Maybe they will be able to communicate and bridge the gap between your parents and your studies? As a younger jedi of 16, I realize the difficulty of not only attempting to explain jediism to those who prefer to turn a blind eye to new ideas but of also bringing your parents into some form of mutual understanding. I hope that my words have been helpful in some way and I wish you the best of luck in your quest to bring understanding to all parties involved in this personal conflict of yours!

Lorian, just... be careful. hahah. Don't be too trusting of the internet.

A good Jedi trait is to learn the difference between the "kind" adult and the "plotting" adult. Both can come off exactly the same! Even at the Temple, there can be good fakes. Don't think that because this is a community of faith it is free of enemies.
