well I don't know your home situation, but I joined when I was 17
And I was straight up front and honest with my parents. My father didn't care much, but my mother made an account and took the time time to understand Jediism fully. She's even spoken with Br. John on the phone before lol! But my whole family doesn't mind and they just support what I do becuase it's a great thing. And I think if you give your family the chance to understand for themselves and see that this place helps anyone of any age for the better, they will not mind you're being here
An please know for any youngsters who want to tell their families, but perhaps would like their families to chat with a Master/admin/council, just PM me a note and I would be more than happy to accomodate any questions they may have
You shouldn't have to hide this. So don't be afraid to break out of your shell

Maybe it's just me, but I think anger and shame should be the last things any parent should feel if their child is actively seeking ways to not only better themselves but to better the world as well...
Yet sadly I know there are those that are blissfully trapped in the "old" ways and adamantly refuse to evolve...
As has been mentioned, the council is here to help, and guide...as are the rest of us...

Warning: Spoiler!
There is passion, yet there is peace
Through passion I gain strength and knowledge
Through strength and knowledge I gain victory
Through victory I gain peace and harmony
Through peace and harmony my chains are broken
There is no death, there is the force and it shall free me

'Whyever is this only directed at younger members?' The CMC asked, swirling his tea as he watched the screen, 'Views on parents need not necessarily apply only to children. After all, are we not always our parents' sons and daughters?'
'Miss Author, you're not having Milord recite these lines out of some chip you've got on your shoulder, are you?' Nash asked, giving Jack a very Jeeves-ish look.
"Uummm... uhhhh... no?" Jack managed, unconvincingly, as all of the characters were very aware their Author Mother had some serious issues with her own parents.
'Eh. Well, we're always gonna butt heads with parents on things like this.' Kakeru pointed out, 'Seems to me that keepin' it hushed up until you're allowed'ta just move out might be the best option. Some folk'll throw ya out if they don't like it.'
Hmm... wonder where Jack got that lingering fear from...
'Or some parents'll say 'Well, I don't like it, but it's your life and maybe what works for me won't work for you so... kark it, anyway.'" Kendalina commented, being very much a laissez-faire kind of parent.
'It seems to me, though, that the risks would greatly outweigh the benefits.' Tensora-san commented, 'Presuming that one has no way of knowing, save to ask, the possible benefit of being at ease around one's parents is equally likely, but much less important than not being thrown out and disowned by the family. So, perhaps for the time being, Mendo-kun's suggestion would be the best.'

I wonder....
Are they really watching more?
Or is it a vague sense of guilt to not be listening to a parent?
Merely speculating....
Either way, always try to make the best decision....
