What primal instinct is this quote referring to?

“For it is easy to criticize and break down the spirit of others, but to know yourself takes a lifetime.”

I am referring to your primal instinct. You personally.

I am not going to announce the meaning to this quote as sometimes its better left unsaid.

:)

It was just a though I had and thought I would share it.

You may not be able to change your primal instincts.

However, if you better understand them, you set yourself up to better overcome them.
In being in full control of the you that is (And I refer to your instincts for survival and reproduction, not your bodily functions which are dominated by the other levels of consciousness), you are better employed to be in full control of your own destiny.

When you consider the neccessity of the shell, you understand the neccessity of the two systems.

Thus, it is this that I argue, that both are needed in order for the person to live a full life.

Just a thought that came to mind when I read your post =D.

I just read a bunch of stuff on human primal instincts and just got more confused. Apparently, some scientists think there are no such things, in humans. Others go so far as to say that ridiculous things are instincts instead of urges or reflexes.
So, as far as the quote goes..
Alright.
lol :)

What's a 'primal instinct'?

If that's to save yourself from harm then I don't understand firemen...

If that's to breed and reproduce then I don't understand those who are celibate

If it's to acquire strength and power and wealth then why can be happy when they have so 'little'

Perhaps those people have no 'primal instincts'

But more likely I think it's because humans have the capacity to go beyond the immediate, the obvious and the 'instinctual'

Our instincts as humans to do certain things and even in a certain way. Very basics.

Ok maybe my statement was a bit vague. Allow me to elaborate.

"Every living thing on this earth has to evolve in order to survive. Those very same primal survival concepts apply to many things in life. Take the business world, for example. Businesses that are not flexible and do not evolve and grow eventually get left behind and dissipate. The same thing happens to the amphibian that needs oxygen, but doesn't evolve some way to receive it from it's watery surroundings or develop legs to hoist itself out of the water and onto land to breath it."

We as humans have Primal instincts. We all seek survival whether you claim to or not survival in humans is always and always will be there in everyone. We all seek for success even in the modest of terms ensuring our survival. We do certain things to ensure our survival which is through our primal instinct. Our primal instinct is to survive and that shows through the little things we do as humans.

One part to our primal instinct is to evolve. We are always changing what we do what we believe whether we admit it or not. By doing so we advance and progress therefor we evolve.

Our Primal instinct can't be changed. It is grown into our DNA. We can change to evolve but our primal instinct will always be there.
