A buddy of mine at work has a few tattoos and he estimated between 100-150 for me. I haven't received an official quote from an artist yet.
But soon!! haha.

My tattoo was 250. It took about an hour, no color, but alot of shading. It's fairly large, but not huge.

In my experience, tats can vary a good bit in pricing based on a number of variables: 1) skill level (perceived or otherwise), 2) if he likes you, 3) just starting out and needs to build a portfolio, 4) etc.
an example would be getting a tat from kat von d a few hours ahead of time and being ugly as sin. the price would probably be a bit more than if you were a beautiful girl who booked well ahead of time with jimmy new guy down the street.
