I find the point on mergers to be interesting - the more senior members will know what im on about there.
My only concern with much of what you have written Ren - is the continued 'looking back' - its all in the past - leave it there, we all know hindsight is 20/20 but whats done is done.
The future is more important and the here n now more important than the future.
If history has taught mankind one thing - 1 man crusades never win (and inevitably get called a dictatorship) and brow beating doesnt work either.
You have your way of doing thing, each of us has ours.
I personally dont give a toss what the bbc say and i fail to see what phantom menace or any starwars book, film or game etc has to do with my Jediism - that part bellongs to the roleplayers.

I know Kana. But this is also why I would like Jediism to go back to the basics. Because we let Jediism evolve the way it did doesn't mean we have to keep on doing it that way. I had given up on it, mostly because, as you say, one-man crusades don't lead anywhere, not to mention i wasn't interested. Feeling like you're the last of your kind is really not a warm fuzzy feeling, and to keep on going with Jediism as it has become would be like a conversion for me, and it isn't going to happen... However recent events led me to think there may yet be hope. I'll see how it goes.

It has everything to do with Jediism... It's what Jediism is based on. And it came with a serious load of problems that weren't properly dealt with at the time. I'd like to see that change.

As has been pointed out, all beliefs and practices evolve according to the needs of the people involved. Those that resist this change become more distant and irrelevant. You only have to look at the Catholic stance on contraception as an illustration of this - the Pope is now realising the part that condoms have to play in disease prevention because it is relevant to what people are experiencing.
Usui Mikao, founder of the system of Reiki Ryoho, created a set of precepts based on his own spiritual undertstanding and influenced by local beliefs such as Tendai Buddhism. One of these precept is \"be true to your way and your being\". In other words, not only should you follow your own guidance to what you need to do but also to embody those principles. The first line of the Jedi Creed is \"I am a Jedi\", not \"I study the Jedi way\" or \"I follow Jediism\". Identifying as something allows you to practice that with every part of your being and every path is unique to the person journeying it. The Jediism practised at TOTJO has a devotional quality closer to religion than other Jediist practices but it doesn't make it better or worse than others. What matters is what YOU are comfortable with and I, for one, am grateful for the opportunity to express my own individual faith within the context of Jediist principles.
As the Beatles sang: \"I am he as you are he as you are me and we are all together.\"

What do you know about that? What are these things that I am comfortable with you seem to know so much about?
Those that resist this change become more distant and irrelevant.
Surely you realize that you are distant and irrelevant then. Following ancient mostly forgotten rites, clinging to totjo when clearly CoJ is the way forward... In fact, why bother with ways that find their roots so long ago so far away when you could just convert to christianity or Islam and be just like everyone else...
If that's what I get when I talk about things that aren't ten years old, no wonder nowadays people piss on war memorials.

I would becareful what you say Ren, before you piss off the wrong person with statments that may or may not be correct.
I can say with your last comment you are coming periously close to pissing off not only a senior member of this order but a soldier as well.
As for COJ being the \"light\" kid wake up, since when does one have to pay for things including books to learn about a faucet of life that is open and available to all. If was to be told by a HighPriest that I had to pay for a book in his organization to achieve the next level I would laugh. I do purchase books for my path, but those that are drawn to me and vice versa. I have read some of your postings on CoJ and have found them to be \"rather entertaining.\" and that is a sarcastic remark. Also any organization that \"researches\" their members sounds more like a society to me. You are not the government, nor are you the head of the \"Jedi faith\", so wake up break the chains and stop pretending for the sake of yourself and others.
As another senior member is found of saying \"If you don't like it here; leave.\"

Ok, as someone who chooses not to take a stance on whether totjo or coj is right or wrong... even I have felt a little like seeing someone trolling to see what emotional responses you can bring up.
With that said, each of us are free to our own opinion, view and path... that includes yourself AND others... the part of that offendiing you kind of confounds me.. and to be insulting to the dead and fallen shouldn't be in any version of a jedi's ideas of ok things to fling around (IMO)
Anyways, this is all my own opinion and not a warning or anything, but its really interesting to see so many out of control emotions around the temple lately

Tiamat, as a so-called \"senior\" you should think before to open your mouth. Really.
As another senior member is found of saying \"If you don't like it here; leave.\"
Or, as a more senior member said \"if you don't like it here, change it\". Mark has already clearly stated he liked change too.
You're barking up the wrong tree.

I have remained quiet for sometime and just watched. I do not take a lot of things to heart when people try to say this is better or that is better because I believe that everyone is entitled to their own opinion. What does wear thin is when someone comes into another site and tries to whip a dead horse trying to turn everyone else to their ways. I will not Say TotJO is the better place to be, but it is the best place for ME to be and clearly the best place for those that are here. If you believe that CoJ is the best place for YOU then so be it and be happy with your choice and stop trying to force others to see CoJ as better. I wrote a sermon once about Ethnocentrism that talks about this so as has been said, If you do not like it here then you are not forced to stay. If change is what you want then suggest and if it does not work then you have 2 choices ... drop it or start your own. There is a reason there are so many different branches of say Christianity for this very reason and again it does not make one better than the other just better for the members that join. I am only a member here and do not speak for the council but I suggest we all look at this debate as a difference of opinion and leave it at that. No need to beat a dead horse we all know by now how we feel. And, Ren if you believe that CoJ it the way and the future that is your right but then leave us to our belief and our ways.

On another note I am unsure where this thread is heading, i've read through all of it and anything constructive that was being gained has, to me it seems, to have ceased.
I can feel the tension in people's posts, can I make a suggestion that until someone actually makes a definitive point of discussion that we please stop posting.
