I'm not sure I understand what you're saying here. Could you explain a bit more, or differently, for me? Thanks

Carlos does a lot of that Yoda speech. You'll get used to it.

As to what he means, you will find a lot of that in the IP. Get to work

The no contest contest
Jedi believe a bit more difrent and open minded . One of the most wonderful things I have read here is this ... " there is no contest." Many different organizations call it many things... Selfless ... Humble ... Removal... Fact is we are not in contest in life. Here especially. I am in no race with you. You ... Shouldn't ... Be in a race with me , we are in life with no contest . The no contest contest is my challenge to all Jedi , try it , live like there's no contest , speak like there's no contest , act like there is no contest , Kinna changes things a bit ? I hope so!
Force be with y'all!
Wanna try ? Do not ! See if there isn't a ... Difference... See if it's you some times!!!

I like this concept Carlos. Then there is no winner or loser. Seems at times society is divided so much into Win/Lose, that we lose track of the humanity and we're all on the same life path, just taking different routes.

I'm with River on the initial statement. When one is a guest, they are separate from and not of the thing which they are a guest. A member, however, is a part of that thing. As TOTJO is an inclusive religion, it should be that being a member is something which is easily obtainable for those who wish to do so. Requiring an extensive training regime breaks down that inclusivity.
If I remember correctly, the change from being able to apply for membership on day one to day seven was primarily made to reduce the impending SW fanboy flood resulting from the upcoming move of that time (I believe Ep7), so that the processor would not be processing a gazillion applications for those who never returned. I know I asked in the other thread, if that had made a significant different or not, but I haven't seen a response to that question.
As for granting membership immediately with registration... I believe that by virtue of this being a tax exempt religious organizations, the application is a legally required part of the membership process. So how would we do that? Change the site registration form to the application and not allow account creation until the application is processed? That would just readd to the work load for the processors and very likely result in even fewer people coming by. Or do you change guest to member but not require the application until after completion of the IP in order to become an apprentice? Now that would certainly drop the application processing work load I'm sure!!
But would doing that alleviate the call for the "you shouldn't be a member until you do the work" crowd? I highly doubt that.
How do you strike a balance of who is and who is not qualified to be a member while still maintaining the inclusive nature that TOTJO has always had?
And for the record, the "guest" status can and has resulted in people not being taken seriously... Or not feeling like they're going to be taken seriously. So there is a stigma attached to that title, whether we want to admit it or not. And as for the argument "well we don't want anyone just calling themselves Jedi".... Yeah good luck with that.
