Your idea of the state of the world.

First, let me tell you that there has been no such thing as the free press since the eighties when broadcast corporations decided that the news needed to draw ratings and income. The news used to be about reporting what was going on. Then it was turned into something that would generate viewers and sponsorship. It is controlled by those that want to make money and sensationalism sells. So there is always an agenda and a bias of one nature or another.
That said…
The world is very much the way it has always been. There are groups vying for power, position and control to create their own security whether it be financial, religious, political or personal. Most people are good. But, they are manipulated by the system in play in their area, region or country that the bureaucrats and finical institutions control. As much as none of us want to hear, and sure won’t admit, we are pawns in their game.
That does not mean we have to remain that way though.
Now, I am not going to tell or suggest that anyone go out and break the law. But if you want to be free there are certain realities that need to be made aware of. Knowledge is paramount. Not learning as much propaganda as you can, but actual knowledge. A major lie that we have all been told is that the masses can decide morality. This is just not true. The masses can decide ethics… but our soul is not governed by ethics. And the easiest way to know if something is right is to imagine if two people were alone on a planet, the only two people, could one do the thing decided/discussed to another and be right? Then imagine you were viewing planet Nazi. And watching Nazis doing this thing to a child. Would you be offended, appalled, want to stop it or speak out against it? Then it still wouldn’t be right even if they thought it was right. It’s actually very simple.
Your ability to change the world may not be apparent right now. That is why we, as Gandhi is reported to have said “be the change you wish to see in the world.”
Knowing the state of the world does not affect your ability to change the world but rather arms you with the knowledge of what you are up against.
This is also why Horace said, “The world is a comedy to those that think; a tragedy to those that feel.”
Any lasting change that is to be made cannot be forced on others. People just don’t work that way. But they can want to change. And that can build a better world for everyone.
Effect change where you can, in your life. And watch as that positive change spreads.
These are my thoughts on the state of the world.

Wes- Thank you, that is a lot of wisdom, the pursuit of this knowledge is so that I can somewhat grasp what I am up against. I do still adhere to helping anyone I can and putting forth what I may to simply change someones mood. Even small ripples can cause large waves, a smile can save a life.
As I progress through the school system as a career, (I think I understand further what you are saying I just have to pull in a point of relation) I see some of the challenges that I face by gaining knowledge. I keep trying to further envelop myself by going to school board meetings, the teacher workshops, in general reading what i can in educational periodicals to apply to the classroom. This is how I see myself being able to design things to help my students only have to figure out what lines I can push as the system is not guided by ethics or morality but efficiency to my understanding of this district.
Thank you all again for any replies! this is a wonderful and beautiful way to learn!

The exchanges of late between the US, Russia, and North Korea (as well as the increased tensions between N.K. and China) have me on edge. As Canada is the middle ground between the states and Russia, we could and would get stuck having to fight a battle that is not our own if something went down. And honestly, I don't know which side we would be with, or which I would want to fight alongside.
Within our borders, we are currently being led by a one dimensional pretty boy (a "man" that never takes a stand on anything and answers everything in the most "P.C" way possible) that got his job by promising the teenagers weed. He's also filled positions of our top leaders with people that are also fitting to his "P.C" worldview, rather than filling them with the people most qualified for the job. Our Director of National Defense is having his resignation called for by the general public and the military because he's gone on record three times now stealing valour (a crime made worse by him being the 3rd most powerful man in Canada, so what is he trying to steal? (made doubly worse because he wasn't the best for the job in the first place, he's just another of pretty boy's P.C. culture candidates.)). So that sucks.
The US economy (important to me is currently doing much better than Canada, so buying anything from the States cost an arm and a leg extra (not including shipping or the tariff). All this massive growth done by Trump, a man who thinks people are like batteries and we have "finite energy" and that he (as a person with a BMI of 29.5) is the "healthiest person ever elected". (Don't want to make this political, I just find it ironic that the second worse president of my lifetime (Behind Bush) is leading the greatest economical changes for the USA)
This world really is looking grim, but hey, at least we have Tim Horton’s and it's our short summer/construction season. Nothing can harm you with an ice cap in hand on a warm day.

Rant over, now time to go back to my manta... "Passion, yet Serenity".

That is a huge scope, like... all of humanity!!
But to try to attempt an answer.... my perspective is mostly my own, but I acknowledge it's emerged from a particular cultural solution to the problem of communal survival. I think that has gotten worse over my lifetime, as increases in population density brings with it various scales of order and disorder. The order is faster paced and more complex and the disorder has a greater human and environmental impact. It makes us cling and grasp by default, act all defensive and feel victimized - all just from inappropriate focus (even where it might be justified). So the whole group dynamics come into play which is divisive and counter-productive to good growth IMO. The main root feeding this global problem of population density might be the very long maturation process of a human, coupled with its most healthy reproductive window sitting right up against the tail end of that process. The human seems to evolve much slower then it can transform its environment, so its a bit of folly we all get drunk on our junk so to speak. Which plays into the weakness of the order, as order is functional and abuse of function usually breaks parts of the system... and the weakest part is usually the human, or the environment. Perhaps a solution would be to live 1000 years instead of 70, as people might take on more care and responsibility for doing things with wider positive outcomes, rather then just doing what is right for them or even worse what makes them feel better in the now... let someone else sort out the mess as my existing is effort enough hey, hehe. That all taints the entire nature of humanity, creating silly cycles of power being re-branded as people come into, and sometimes get to fade out of, power. More of more for less. We unfortunately seem to think we are 'gods gift' to this planet and treat it and others as resources on our journey to meet our end. Humanity in dealing with managing its existence during life needs to do so on parameters related to its existence in life, so whether its a religion of a male omnipotent god or of the selfish pursuit of self, the focus of people seems to be a fickle flickering flame of ones potential..... or perhaps I"m just projecting

And tt seems to easy to conflate ideas and concepts to live in a haze of grey to justify stagnation or selfishness, which is a shame because that process is probably important to gradual learning, which means people might have a tendency to over value their content of their beliefs instead of realizing the effort should be open and flexible as a process. While progress is refinement, its fractioning offsets complexities in other areas which promote that same problem. The order in humanity is politics and law, so globally the spirit of those remains atomised in the grey mist as various countries try to address that reality of managing population growth in least harm terms to the human as biology... which is like using a hammer to plant seeds in cement - you better be ready to roll into a crack else you'll be squishified. While other countries cannot see their own feet or hands. I think its too broad a question to answer, but living in Australia see's us having quite a good system in place, with welfare systems, subsidized healthcare, secularism, independent judiciary, functional democracy, established moderately regulated capitalism, a history of multiculturalism, relatively good widespread education, health, and emergency services.
I think kids though around the world should be bought up as global citizens, all equal, instead of national citizens... that might be a good start.

Adder that is an awesome wide-scope answer. I really don't know what to say. By the way I agree on global citizens the sooner we understand it the sooner certain things will be resolved. However, I don't know that humanity is quite ready for that yet.
Arsiag, I don't think you will need to worry about war between US and Russia neither have much to gain, we won't capture territory and neither really benefits from the crash of the other. Its mostly just posturing and schlong measuring. Otherwise, thank you for the info on up north. I would like to make a trip up north, just haven't found time to drive up there.

The news and much of the media show mostly negative things. In my opinion, it lowers the the bar on what is considered "normal".
I would like to see more positive things. That, I think, would raise the standard. And I also believe it would inspire people to do better and to do more of that better.

Think of it this way. A hundred and fifty some odd years ago, soldiers in the U.S. were fighting a civil war that killed tens of thousands of people in a single weekend, and yet most of the world had no idea what was going on until months later. Even relatives of soldiers would have to wait weeks to find out if their loved one was still alive. When the Confederacy surrendered, there were still battles taking place days later in the western part of the U.S. because they armies hadn't received the news yet.
Fast forward to WWII when we could at least here news over the radio and hear Roosevelt telling us about Pearl Harbor and a declaration of war. We still had little idea what was going on day-to-day in Europe or the Pacific, but at least we would get updates from sources we trusted.
Now, we receive instant communication about every missile launched anywhere in the world straight to our mobile phones or Facebook feeds. We are inundated with information every moment and it is difficult to tell what is real and what isn't. The news cycle has gone from months, to weeks, to now hours. It is impossible to keep up and it creates a lot of anxiety and fear in people.
The truth is, the world is no worse off than it ever has been. We just know a lot more about crap as it happens and it makes us believe the world is worse. By almost every measurable standard (life expectancy, medical advances, technological advances, economic prosperity) the world is much better off as a whole than it ever has been.

Well said. I keep forgetting just how easy it is to learn of things. Heck, we even have fake news to worry about nowadays, and that adds fuel to the general discontent of the world.
I should not be so quick to judge my Prime Minister, or the President of the USA. I've never met them, I don't know their struggles. I rant, thats how I am. I am working on it, doing my best to be better.
But again, yes, we do learn of things sometimes faster than is good for us. Just this morning a friend of mine didn't go into work because he saw "news" that the road to his work was washed away in a mudslide. This was not the case, a large pothole had opened up and was filled within the hour. So he missed work for no reason, all because of a fake news article that circulated faster than facts could. Just find that relavant to Senan's views.
As a fellow Jedi once told me, "Take a step back, observe, contemplate, and move forward knowing the facts." We, as a culture, are too quick to judge and we don't learn facts, we just spew what we see.
Thank you, Senan. Sometimes it really does take a reality check to realize just how we let things that will never effect us, well, effect us.
