Okay guys, I had a kind of an interesting series questions cross my mind this morning while chatting with Marta. It’s kind of a silly one but I want to know what you think. We get our myth from the movies, but what I want to know is basically what would Earth Jedi look like and carry if we would have evolved more like Samurai? What if instead we had that history behind us. We all know that light-sabers (no matter how cool.) actually exist and the Force ( no matter how you view it.) Can not move a paper napkin across a slick table. I know a lot of you are going to tell me that the Jedi were a mixture of one culture or another, and to go look at those. And I’ll tell you yes sure, but that’s not what I want to know. What I want to is what you think a purely Earth based Jedi would have theoretically carried/looked/ evolved into over time. What kind of sword do you think a Jedi would carry? Do you think the Jedi would be corrupted over time? Do you think there would be many branches of Jediism like there are of Christianity, or do you think we would have kept with our traditions over time?

The best answer I can come up with are cells. Splinter cells some forward some not so forward. I think if this...and I'm not a hypothetical subcsriber at all but we would cell off, each on some contact but each with their own...brand ...style...harmony. For fun.

Sort of boils down to that question of defining what a Jedi is. In the fiction it was obvious, a particular application of the Force - being those who trained to apply those unique attributes that 'their mama gave em'. So in the absence of the Force, history might have been inherited money which was unique (politicians), or intelligence (academics), or brutality (criminals) with variations of them constituting the rest of society. The less specialized the less unique in the context of that thing having real lasting value. But we are guided by the doctrine and what we hold as teachings, so I guess the questions is what parts of the doctrine speak loudest to you and which people in history represent it the most. Unless you mean the metaphysical interpretation of the Force, then it might be the people who took the biggest risks while not contradicting the doctrine... perhaps explorers, whether it be physical, ideological or spiritual. Exploration seems to imply a big element of risk and through risk you might see parts of the Hero's Journey more clearly outlined. So a walking staff, compass, sword, paper and writing instrument perhaps!?
