Nice question. The Buddhists among us probably need to say there is only luminosity. The mahayanists might want to equate white with beneficient to all beings. Its the key point of the myth, thus beyond explanation. More like "there are dark and light on this world, now deal with it".

If there is only luminosity, how can then there be a you that is light or grey?

Aren't we all grey Jedi ?? I mean, we were brought up by our parents/families and we have all formed an emotional attachment with at least someone, making the emotion, yet peace, part of the jedi code a part of our lives.

That's the point I tried to make. I agree with you, Silas, but most will not. But as Rickie stated wisely, it's more important to just be who you are and forget about shades of black, white, and grey.
