i have been to a similar facility and i can tell you that they do in fact insult your dignity in many different ways but this aint one of them lol

i have no sympathy for this guy, except in the sense of having sympathy for all people who suffer from serious mental health issues, which he probably does

but if this case does anything at all it makes legitimate cases of inmate grievance more suspicious in the eyes of the public

Thank you. This guy is being a Special Snowflake. You all know I am the queen of compassion, but this is just silly.

For me I'm thinking less of this specific guy and more of the treatment of prisoners overall. They are treated as less than human while in prison and, in many ways, even after they're out. I find it hard to believe that we expect them to act like productive members of society again while we are at the exact same time telling them that they aren't and can't ever be.

The Pastafarianism stuff was designed for just this kind of thing though. To point stuff out, usually about religion, in a ridiculous enough fashion that people pay attention. This guy probably doesn't really care if he gets to wear an eye patch, he's just working the system so we can get a look at how the system works.

I don't think he's asking for sympathy, for all we know he got bored and thought this might be fun.
