How do you use the Thank You button?

In advance, I thank everyone and anyone who takes their time to read and respond to my posts. :)

The "Thank You" button to me is a special acknowledgment, it's when a particular post resonates very well with me, so I feel the need to make a distinct pause to "like" it.

The optimist expects it to change;
The realist adjusts the sails.

When one person has what they are saying noticed or thanked we need to ensure we do not take this recognition as an affirmation or denial of our own feelings. Write Thank Yous with consideration for the content they refer; read them with consideration for the content of who you are.

The "thank you" button, for me, can have some wildly different uses. Most often it actually does mean "thank you" - even so much as "thank you for participating in this ..."

At other times, it is my paraphe : it says "I've been here" or "I'm aware of this"

In some long threads, it is a book-mark ...

Nevertheless, it I "thank" a post - the gratitude is genuine, even if I do not tend to agree wholly with what is said. There are lots of ways to be "right" (contributing something to the topic gets us closer to 'almost' right, after all).

I use it to show appreciation for what was written.

I may or may not agree, but I read it and was glad I did.

Thank you for posting? It's not a complicated response.

It depends on the post. Sometimes it's a "thank you for saying a point I wanted to say, but couldn't figure out how to word". Sometimes it's an "I appreciate your post, it means a lot to me". Other times it's a show of solidarity: "I understand how you're feeling".

Basically the way other people in the thread have already said ;)

I keep it simple as to not confuse or send an inaccurate signal. Thank You means I find myself particularly agreeing. However not thanking a post does not necessarily mean I disagree. Just that the one I thank has contributed a very particular amount of learning value toward me and what I resonated with. I keep my thank you's very sparse because the level of resonance that really hits my nail has been set high, partly to preserve it's value.
