This seems to happen an awful lot and it's really interesting to observe, especially in oneself.
I was given this article and thought it could be useful here. What are you reactions to text telling you about your self, your mind, emotions, and thoughts?

just avoid reacting to obscure messages, and seek clarification before responding

I wonder how true that is for anyone else.
Never react and give people the benefit of the doubt.
Which... is much easier said than done at times.

definitely true for me
ive read unnecessary things into other peoples words and ive been misunderstood
"give people the benefit of the doubt" is not always easy for me, but i know its the right thing to do

That is so true. It is hard to put expression into our text. We can put lol to let someone know we are joking but it doesnt mean it wont still be taken in the wrong way. Peoples state of mind at the time can determine how they percieve things. If I am in a "bad mood", I try not to go online or reply to any thing I read and avoid altogether. We are only human and it can be easily done if we are not consciously aware of those actions and emotions.

Thank you for posting this.
Sometimes (most times) it is important to take a step back and look at the situation as a whole, from different perspectives. I needed this reminder, and hope that I can do this more regularly.

I am much more likely to be offended via text than I am over the phone or in person, because so much of the way humans communicate is either audible or based in body language. When one only sees the words, without their audio context, or subtle gestural cues, it's really hard to take the exact meaning.
For example, imagine that you've just made an awful joke. Note the difference between:
"Get out."
and
"Get out."
