As much as I am Jedi, I feel like this is not right... any body think the same?

christians always seem to want to make everything about them.....starbucks is trying to be considerate of all religious perspectives hence the bland holiday colored cups...christians should admit that they stole christmas from the pagans and rebranded it to suit their needs...

Wow. Just wow. This is so far beyond oblivious self-entitlement complexes on the part of the critics that it defies all my current attempts at rational analysis of just how far beyond it is.

Any time one group is used to being in power for as long as Christians have been here in America they will start to freak out when they see that power start to slip away. Christmas is not the only holiday that happens during the winter. As Ryu pointed out Christmas only even happens at this time because Christianity took over existing Pagan holidays and rebranded them. And they only did that to make conversion easier on the masses when Christianity became the official religion of Rome.

There is nothing wrong with making a coffee cup secular. What is wrong is freaking out that the largest coffee chain in America no longer caters specifically to your religion. And telling them that your name is "Merry Christmas" to force them to write it on the cup and yell it out isn't doing anything but letting everyone know that you are an intolerant jerk that wants to force his religion on the world.

from the article:
“Creating a culture of belonging, inclusion and diversity is one of the core values of Starbucks"

i think that says it all

btw, another favorite of the "christmas is under attack" club is the evil of the word "Xmas"

from wikipedia https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xmas

"The word "Christ" and its compounds, including "Christmas", have been abbreviated in English for at least the past 1,000 years, long before the modern "Xmas" was commonly used. "Christ" was often written as "Xρ" or "Xt"; there are references in the Anglo-Saxon Chronicle as far back as 1021. This X and P arose as the uppercase forms of the Greek letters χ (Ch) and ρ (R) used in ancient abbreviations for Χριστος (Greek for "Christ"),[2] and are still widely seen in many Eastern Orthodox icons depicting Jesus Christ. The labarum, an amalgamation of the two Greek letters rendered as ☧,[note 1] is a symbol often used to represent Christ in Catholic, Protestant, and Orthodox Christian Churches.[19]

Other proper names containing the name "Christ" besides those mentioned above are sometimes abbreviated similarly, either as "X" or "Xt", both of which have been used historically,[23] e.g., "Xtopher" or "Xopher" for "Christopher", or "Xtina" or "Xina" for the name "Christina".

In the 17th and 18th centuries, "Xene" and "Exene" were common spellings for the given name Christine."

i remember bill o'reilly as a guest on letterman saying "youre not allowed to say christmas on t.v. anymore" and i thought: letterman should quip back with: "no Bill, its c*cks*cker" youre not allowed to say on T.V., christmas is still OK"

People are complicated.

They still sell a "Christmas Blend" of coffee beans. Don't worry.

Christmas here perhaps is less about the birth of Christ for most, and more about giving each other gifts and hooking up with relatives... but seriously, I wonder at what point does a social tradition break away from its historical underpinnings and be judged on its contemporary merit? I think it would be a shame to think it has to be a measurement of just how much the contemporary practice has divorced itself from its historical roots - that is just killing culture for the sake of being 'uniform', and I think its beyond politically correct. While Christmas didn't originate entirely in Christianity, it does constitute the ongoing culture and tradition in the last few hundred years in various places around the world - as does other traditions in other places around the world. Usually local regions have local cultures, and I'm not a big fan of whitewashing the globe to a uniform shade of grey so everyone can 'feel' equally bland. So to me, if a local culture is not offensive, then it's no big deal. I'm not sure how Christmas on a Coffee Cup is offensive to anyone? Obviously anyone can take offense at anything, but that is not the measure of something being offensive, that is instead the measure of someone taking offense - I think they are different things, and should not really be mixed up IMO.

I don't get it. Not all Jedi are Christians, we most certainly are NOT a Christian order. Most if not all christian traditions surrounding Christmas were "borrowed" from paganism. Where does this self entitlement come from?

it's not just christianity that has self entitlement of that level...look at islamic extremists as well...it seems that the big 3 (christianity, islam, judeaism) have all had periods of superiority complexes/self entitlement bouts....

as to where it comes from....i have no clue....
