I tend to think that in-person allows for a deeper and more 'holistic' connection to other people. I also think, as evidenced by the responses here, that it also depends somewhat on personality-guided preferences. There's also the point that you're asking this question online, to a bunch of people who spend a lot of time online, lol. :silly:
I feel that a case could be made why connections through the internet always have virtual aspects (though I agree that they are not entirely virtual by any means), yet the extent of the virtual nature of the relationships will also be determined by things like maturity of the individuals (self-awareness, etc.).
