Brenna,
Thanks for the welcome.
TY for your definitions; because, I was entirely focused on individual core values (meaning guiding principles and usually reflect conscious and positive characteristics) in relation to organizational values.
I lost sight of the individual/organization values to aspirational value relationship where concept of habit could be more relative.
Also, I now see that core values and values are being used interchangeably which is why I could not fully understand the OP.
I would like to frame here, but I do not know how. Could someone p.m. so that I may have it for future reference?
Frame: "powerful stuff when you start to explore it." Yes, it is powerful when first explored; then, can become very helpful in all areas of life from my experience.
Again, thanks for the definitions, it helps me understand where you were going in the OP.
Back to the paper you are writing, perhaps the definition of habit is incorrect and limited in application and if it were corrected and broadened, it may help with the entire thought process for the paper?
Kitsu: I love the quotes that Ry posted for you.
On a particular thing I have been working on for many years, I seem to fail over and over again. I was telling my sister just 2 days ago:
If I make no attempt, failure is certain.
If I try for the rest of my lifetime without accomplishment then this is what I value over not trying at all.
Then, she quoted the Edison quote, which was my first time hearing! I find it very helpful and inspirational.
Thanks for the welcome.

Nice!!!
I might have to steal it for my own personal use, and reflect on it some more.... though for me I'm going to swap out 'Reason' for 'Means'
.. because it throws back to my interest in Buddhism;
Snellgrove (Snellgrove 2002, 290) describes the Mahayana conception of the thig le (Skt. bindu) as the union of wisdom and means, bodhicitta, “which in the more conventional Mahayana setting depends upon the Wisdom and Means of a bodhisattva for its effective existence. In such a context it means literally the aspiration toward enlightenment, which is the driving force for his heroic activities throughout so many rebirths.” This was subsequently used to conceptualize yogic ritual process by the tantrics, so that it referred “to that vital force resulting from the union of Wisdom and Means, understood as the perfect union of the Male and Female elements” [except from memory Wisdom is ascribed to Female and Means to Male in most of what I'm reading about this topic (unless I'm mistaken)]

I set it up like that because I notice that my ideas interact with each other. I tried to boil my value system down to something essential, knowing other elements would arise.
I think they are compatible with Jedi living as I understand it. More to the point, I think Jedi living supports this.
Feel free to steal and rework. I think it is important to include a certain flexibility herein to make room for growth.

Hm. I can perhaps see where it might seem that way....But I assure you, i am not losing sleep over it, not depressed, and not unhealthy. I see my critizim as a simple fact to be worked on. I use it to help illustrate what I AM good at. IE: I am not good at communication, But I am good at serving others (as Breanna points out)
It is true. At time's it can be hard to nurture my own self ego. Mostly because I am one who serves....I am one who thinks about everyone else before i do myself. I am one to push myself to the very limits to ensure everyone else around me is happy.....at times it is easy to forget myself. But I am much better at it....Kids sort of taught me that, if I don't look inwards I'm like to go off on someone in a bad regrettable way
haha So i treat myself
I get my night time baths with salts. When the husband takes the kids out I purposefully stay home for some Me time....It all balances out. But at the core of it, when i publicly state my faults....its not because of anything clinically unhealthy...it's just my way of comparing things in hopes of bridging that communication problem mentioned earlier
Not out of line at all *hugs* Thank you
I do too!! I guess what I meant when i said "Which seems rather....weak and simple" is another comparison thing. When you compare it to people who are outward, charismatic, Socially Accepted, Adored.....being a Mother as your core value's tend to look small in comparison. Which is ok
I know it is valuable to me and thats fine....but it might help others to see why I am the way I am.
.......Or...So I hope! haha

i wanted to come back to this thread because i feel it touches upon a number of other topics up right now - specifically Hannigans thread about the future and also Conners thread about the dagobah cave
this guy
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DC0faZiBcG0
has posted a series of lectures which i have been enjoying immensely
he periodically refers to pop culture works like harry potter and the lion king to explain the archetypal meaning behind the characters and imagery
in this particular video he highlights pinnochio
i havent seen pinnochio since i was very very young so i didnt REALLY remember most of what he was talking about, which made me curious enough to watch the film
in the film the fairy/goddess character tells pinnochio that if he wants to become REAL and not remain in his state as a wooden puppet/marionette then he needs to demonstrate the ideals of being brave, truthful, and unselfish
man, if i would have watched pinnchio as a slightly older child or young adult! lol
i have seen in life that these ideals are in fact very important to guard one against all sorts of the "lions" which exist in modern culture
but thats not exactly what im expressing here
i brought this up because if the idea of this topic is answered by each of the individuals which make up the community, then the ideas put forward by the other threads will, by extension, also be answered
not in the sense of being able to "predict the future"
but in the sense of knowing that whatever the future brings it will be handled in an intelligent and effective way
so, CORE VALUES; THEYRE EVERYWHERE YOU WANT TO BE!
