Still relatively new to everything here, I often wish I had a personal guide to advise me just over my shoulder. Not necessarily anyone from the Temple, but someone who is always there to mentor me when I need that extra little boost. That is why I have instilled a mental image of my favorite Jedi from the fiction to fill the position. It took quite a bit of time to gather all the information I could on him, but I feel it was well worth it. It feels comforting to know that Qui-Gon Jinn is watching over me in a sense, and this practice has helped me figure some things out faster or more efficiently than if I were on my own. I realize that it is in fact me who is coming up with the answers, but it helps me get a different point of view more easily and quickly to help me out in those situations.

If you were to have anyone at all, fictional Jedi or real person (living or dead) of a similar nature, who would you want to have as your advisor in spirit?

Greetings ParCandroon Bows

Most of what you need to know is with in you. If you do not ask of yourself you will not get an answer. A closed book is nothing more than a block of wood. Once you begin to turn the pages much is revealed. You found your guide, but It is always you. There is an awful lot to learn and unlearn. There is no rush just keep you lantern of light held high and you will be just fine.

Right action, right thought, right speech, right conduct, right respect, right compassion, right honour.

In a sense, I am asking myself. The "spirit mentor/master" in the form of Jinn is like a conduit. He can pop up at a moment's notice to give me a new perspective I haven't thought of yet. While the knowledge does exist in me, he just helps it come about a bit easier. It's akin to the scene in A New Hope where Obi-Wan's voice calls out to Luke to use the Force to destroy the Death Star in a way. Luke knew he had it in him, but was too caught up in the moment to remember to use it.

Side note; I realize I use a lot of references from SW to try to make my points better understood, and I apologize for that if it seems annoying or whatever the case may be, but then again that is a bit of a side effect of taking the names and ideals from SW to give a meaning to this path so that people can understand better by having something to compare it to.

If I had to have someone to be a 'guide' through life I'd probably pick Gandalf. He very infrequently gives you straight answers and even disappears for great periods of time meaning that I really have to do the work, he just gets me ready and then pushes me out the door.

a wise Jedi once wrote.... (and I quote his journal)

"It was the Force that led me to find the Temple while searching the web for a ray of light. Now it is I who have taken the reins and consciously quest for oneness with the Force. I, myself, am deciding to follow the Path of the Jedi and the Way of the Force."

The technique is nothing new, I can assure you. The utilization of the technique in this or a similar way isn't either, but it's not common in the least. PM me if you want to know more, but please keep an open mind or you will not only not understand, but may think I'm just an idiot. I have done this before and I do know what I'm talking about. Anyone can do it as long as you keep an open mind and stick to the process.

I invite anyone who may be interested to PM me for information on it.

Some people hear voices... but I guess the question is are they artifacts from the subconscious or actual spirits. Either way how much trust would you give it, and how much time and effort - as any relationship seems to have various kinds of demands!?
