The following is an excerpt from an article by a Hawaiian shaman and Huna practitioner named Serge Kahili King that I thought might be worth sharing (the article in its entirety can be found here ).

I would love it if some of you would feel comfortable sharing one thing for which you are appreciative. :)

Please feel free to treat this thread like 'What Are You Listening To Right Now?' and share something you are thankful for whenever you are inspired to do so.

It's easy to focus on the negative, but it's just as easy to focus on the positive. I think sometimes people forget that they're not looking at the whole picture and get stuck staring at a small section of something much bigger and far more beautiful.

I am thankful that I finally got orders to a duty station I really wanted to go to. It'll mean a more comfortable life and my return to college.

Walking, stumbling on these shadowfeet

Part of the seduction of most religions is the idea that if you just say the right things and believe really hard, your salvation will be at hand.

With Jediism. No one is coming to save you. You have to get off your ass and do it yourself - Me

I am thankful for the house over my head... I don't have much, but I have a lot more than some, even when it's feeling hard.

It won't let me have a blank signature ...

Currently, I'm thankful for technology that allows me to procrastinate while simultaneously engaging me with music from a musical celebrity crush six-ish years after her death. And Oreos.

I know of nobody in this world who loves me and shows it as much as my daughter... nobody.

I sometimes forget that this experience is something that people have killed to have, and have died trying to keep.

It is something that true kings would turn down all the riches in the world for, instantly.

But you see... it's the small things about it really.

Reading a good book together.

Acting like complete clowns.

Talking about nature and the universe during a nice walk.

Playing Minecraft together and building a cozy house.

The monster hugs and silly sounding kisses when tucking her into bed.

I'm not sure if there is much else as worthy to be grateful for honestly.

Whenever I feel lost or down, I just have to glace at her and remember what its worth.

“For it is easy to criticize and break down the spirit of others, but to know yourself takes a lifetime.”
