Hello Everyone!
First off I want to give thanks and gratitude to Br. John for sanctioning this post. I do not wish to sound or come off as too much advertising. But I do want for folks to be aware of some important aspects that is meant for everyone's participation and/or interest in the future and since it all points back to one location....I figured one thread about this will be more than enough. So lets get to it!

After much discussion and communication at the 2014 Jedi Gathering it has come to agreement that we needed to resurrect our efforts in creating a springboard webpage that supported, announced, and provided information about Offline Gatherings and Meet up's as well as provide support to our fellow communities on the web in order to connect us all in our efforts for offline Training, Education and Social Celibration. With Moonshadows blessing, founder of the Jedi Resource Center. We have resurrected the old JRC with a new name and purpose.

The Gathered Force Community ! And we have three very important event's to share with you.

There's something about this "American" Jedi thing that still worries me. It is the whole title, project - whatever - no matter how well-intentioned it may be.

It isn't even anything that any American could be aware of, unless one has been American ... (I got myself cured of that)

I hope I'm wrong, but ...

Americans (not picking on anyone in particular here), are very culturally conditioned to feel better, the "standard-setters", the models of liberty and freedom that the rest of the Universe should follow. It would follow that this will be the sentiment with respect to our beliefs - that Americans do it right. And, according to all the things we say we believe, that can't be true, can it ... ?

If there is one thing I would not do, that would be to say that I am a French Jedi.

I am Jedi, first and foremost.

French, English, American ... that is all incidental.

Now, keep in mind, this isn't an accusation, or an insult. It is simply offered as something to think about. That is going to be challenging ... most of you have never not been American. Some of you have never been American. But to me, who has been and now am not, this appears very plainly ...

Just consider it, please ... :)

Be a philosopher ; but, amidst all your philosophy, be still a man.

Hello there Alexandre Orion

American Jedi is not being created by Jedi. American Jedi is being created by a filmmaker and director who happened to hear about us and thought it would be an interesting story. It is His film, his work, his creation and therefor his right to call it whatever he wants. :) Please understand that last statement was not to be forceful, merely to indicate that it is >his<

We of the Jedi Community have little say in what he calls it and what he does with it. How he chooses to present us....is on him and his editor. We merely accepted him into our circle, allowed him to film our day to day actions and answered his questions. The rest is his. He is not Jedi so he dosn't fall under our beliefs.

It is my guess that he named it "American Jedi" because all of the "Jedi" in his filming were American. He did not travel out of American to interview anyone outside of the United States. So...It is rightly called "American Jedi" And not really because of any political reason beyond that. :)

I do not take insult :) >I< Am an American....And I do not agree with your assumption that we are conditioned to feel better or such....at least not these days. That's just me though :) I can't speak for all of America lol :-p

Anyways

Please just be aware that this documentary is not "Jedi Made" and we have little control on how it turns out. Example: The description for "American Jedi" Mentions Telekinesis, Which I feel is a horrible mistake and should be taken out effective immediately. But....it is not my call. So I deal with it :-p

You can edit for up to an hour but after that it takes a moderator. I fixed it for you.

I'm understandably curious about the coverage of Jediism but I've been on the edge of my seat wondering who was going to reveal their telekinesis powers. Thank you Kitsu Tails for clearing that up. Do you know of anyone he interviewed about Jediism. Since he confined himself to The US that's pretty much TOTJO and TOTJF, or am I leaving anyone out? I know Rosalyn Johnson and Karen Schwob-Ticknor are listed. Possibly Perris.

Perhaps I live in a bubble, but I haven't observed that attitude or related behavior in the Americans I know. I'm not suggesting that people in my tiny corner of the United Stated are better than anyone else either. ;) I'm simply saying it's a little broad to define an entire culture based on misleading stereotypes... that you may have encountered during your time in the States, but which are not representative of the majority of the population.

Nonetheless, I agree with your thoughts on the title being possibly problematic. :) As is typically the case with film titles, I'm guessing it's meant to grab your attention, and the provocative and questionable nature of the title may be intentional. Or maybe the film's creators just thought it was direct and captured the who, what, where of the presentation.

Hmm, I might actually be able to attend the Indiana one, it'd only be a 6 hour drive, but with the way I drive, it'd probably be close to 5.

America sometimes gets referred to as "leader of the free world". I wonder if people realize this is an oxymoron...
