American Jedi was created by Breeze el Tierno
As many of you are doubtless aware, a documentary has been filmed regarding aspects of this community. It is called American Jedi.
If you are interested in following the post-production, please feel free to visit here: American Jedi's Facebook Page
To business:
A few of us were in it. I was one of them. My part will probably be quite small, but I prefer to lay out all the cards. In this post, I am speaking solely for myself, though I invite others who were part of this project to comment in this thread.
The gentleman who made the film is named Laurent Malaquais. One of his films, Bronies, is on Netflix and I suggest you watch it before you worry. He is a good guy, and while you are free to form your own opinions, I trust him. He and I had several conversations, only some of which were filmed, and I feel pleased to know him. I believe he took good care of us.
When I spoke on camera, I spoke for myself and from my own perspective. I made special effort to not speak on behalf of anyone else. I am quite certain the dozens of, "this is just me, but..." were left on the cutting room floor. That will doubtless be true for everyone filmed, if only because it does not make for compelling viewing. That said...
I take full responsibility for how I will be portrayed in American Jedi. I said what I said and I allowed the footage to be edited without my direct supervision. If it comes up that I offend, please address me directly. I will do what I can to make right any injuries I cause. If, by some miracle, I said something smart, show me a bit of love.
For better or worse, this film will be one of our historical documents. It will be an accurate snapshot of one of the many elements of our community at a specific time. I look forward to it with tremendous curiosity. I know many were skeptical before filming began, and I can only assume some skepticism remains. Please watch the movie with an open mind. For my own part, to TotJo and the Jedi community in general, I hope I did you proud.

I will admit i had a small role in this documentary and I take full responsiblity for all i said and did at the gathering that was or was not recorded. I personally like the cover pics of this fb group. The group picture was quite interesting.
I look back and think wow this was certainly a project worth doing and I hope we did it right.

Walking, stumbling on these shadowfeet
Part of the seduction of most religions is the idea that if you just say the right things and believe really hard, your salvation will be at hand.
With Jediism. No one is coming to save you. You have to get off your ass and do it yourself - Me

I am looking forward to this documentary, Ive followed its progress from when I heard that he would be filming at the gathering and the knightings and I'm intrigued to see how the subject matter is approached. Particularly as I have seen his previous work and am aware that there is a lot of focus on the outwardly visible, and dare I say, role play aspect of his subjects. Im sure that the realist community will be well portrayed though. he seems to be very genuine in his interest in alternative groups.

The timing could not have been more perfect. Those who were officially knighted have were all old guard memebers, meaning they have been with the community for years and most of whom set many bench marks for the community as a whole. As his focus is on those people I am sure they had much to say about the community yesterday, today and tommorow.
As per myself I am happy to say i did not speak negitive about any individual or group as part of this recording and I am fairly certain that none of the other old guard members did, however there is one person I would have supported should he/she have been outspoken about a certain online community. A lot of tough questions were asked and I am hoping they were answered well by everyone.
I for one am looking forward to seeing how this plays out.
