Great question!!!!

I think if you got them all together and could actually get them to stop talking the only con-census you'd get is that they love vigeriously discussing their political and religious orientations. I guess In this respect I'd fit right in.

I hope there is an after life just to see this happen. :)

So I wonder, if you look at your own life, what do you think your own ancestors would say of the person you have become? Do you think they would be proud? Disgusted? Indifferent? Why?

Then, after that is answered- ask yourself: Do I care what they believe? And if I don't- do I care what the rest of society believes? Why or why not?

My ancestors were dirt poor Italians for generations. My grand parents came to America via Ellis Island, raised Kids, my parents, that became blue collar workers and put their kids through college, me and my siblings, and most have a reasonable middle/uppermiddle class life. I think they would be very proud of what their dream of coming to America did for their following generations.

My mom, now passed, often said how proud she was of me and my dad, he died when I was 10, would be proud as his dream was for his kids to go to college. I've had many many difficult challenges all my life, shit just keeps happening even now, I persevere and am well established professionally. I beat the odds every day. It's tough every day. I'm pretty dam proud of that.

It pleases me very much knowing they would be proud but I am also proud of them and all the hardship the endured for me. I also proud I inherited from them: their the work ethic, drive to succede, ability to over come adversity, the will to better myself and family.

I do care, some what, what society thinks of me but I do recognize I'm: a different drummer, have confidence in my strength of and independent of spirit. So if push came to shove I don't give rats ass what society thinks.

I would want furture generations to think kindly of me not for wealth and success but for making a difference in peoples lives. For: being there when I'm needed, compassion, and leaving this world a little better than when I came into it.

Being remembered in the minds and in the hearts of people is the only way to live forever. I pray I have the time and strength to earn that. I'll be dead then so it won't really matter but it matters to me now.
