It Would be Nice....

If our chat were fuller! When I first came here (two years ago) our chat was full and vibrant and a good way to get to know one another. It seems now that it has lost its vibrancy in favor of skype, which also seems to be less full and vibrant currently.

Just my thoughts.

Im required by work to be on Skype everyday, so I'm there all day every day, just about. I have to duck into and out of conversation based on how many fires I have to put out while juggling chainsaws, so my interaction can be sketchy or non-existent, but I do catch up when I can.

I agree. It would be nice if the chat became a little more lively.
I think if we're going to get it to happen, it will start with a few people, old or new members, starting a new habit- that of logging into chat when you come onto the temple (regardless of whether anyone is there or not) and playing the waiting game,
It doesn't take much effort to do so really! Just click a button and then go back to whatever you were doing... occasionally check it and maybe someone there will surprise you saying hello,
I'm not on very often but I'll try and get into the new habit methinks,

Oh man, I love playing the waiting game! I think I might join you in this and make it a habit myself! (I already do it on Skype for my friends so may as well expand it to here :laugh: )

What if we had set discussions at a certain time in chat? Just a thought

That's a good idea except for all the different time zones.. Unless your gonna do same discussion over so many days.
And then you need someone to organise, decide on topic and be available at times.. Maybe a few people needed.

Seriously though, I feel your frustration and I agree it would be nice to talk to other Jedi and hear their voices/see their faces whatnot but I haven't even been able to make it to the last couple of live services.

EDIT: We could set a couple different scheduled times during the week when, if people are available, we'd all agree to get on chat and say hello.

Yup, I remember when chat was a more happening place. As a matter of fact I believe I said hello and got to know you a bit back then!

I figured everyone was on skype and that's why chat died around here (and I've never been on skype before, done hangouts with my wife though when she's been gone on business or visiting family).

Anyway, you're right: it was a good way to get to know people better and make the community more tight-knit. Hopefully your post gets people to chat and learn more about each other. I'll have to make an effort to show up more often

I have good news for you! We don't have video in the main chat!

More good news: people have been in chat here all day.

What happens is that most people will sit in chat but not.... well, chat.
