How would YOU rule?

So, at work today, an interesting little notion started banging around the ol' thinkpan. What if life just disappeared on
Earth, save for you, and a small group of strangers around you, and for whatever reason, they looked to you to lead?

How would you lead those people? Would you leave them to their own devices, or implement an authoritarian rule? Would you unite them under a religion, or would you not even mention the subject? How would you deal with crime? What would be considered crime? Give me a little overview of the society YOU would rule.

Sometimes, the way we would command others gives us the best insight into ourselves.

Scenarios such as described would be pretty harsh. If people in such a situation are unruly, then it's time to separate. How would I deal with crime? Well if it was a minor crime, double ration their food, if its heinous....feed em to the zombies.

If the apocalypse comes, remind me not to piss you off!

And I wouldn't. I would do what I could to organize my own survival and hope that I was able to assist others. And that may not necessarily mean being their leader. I'm good in a crisis and would do what I could, but i know my limitations and I don't believe that leadership over a band of frightened desperate people is a skill I have.

You know.... I haven't thought about it too much, but I wonder if I wouldn't be a mass crime lord if anarchy came along. hahahah.

Depends on the people

I guess if they looked to me as a leader then I can either; leave them or lead them - it would depend on whether they needed someone to lead them or to babysit them. I'd probably leave if its the later. If I'm leading them then it's about protecting them, and to what extent they can join in on an expedition to a safer spot, or defend where they are. So I'd just be looking at capabilities, skills and limitations and going from there.

I'd use some of my military training and establish a chain 'o command...anyone that became a problem could get to stepping or be zombie bait....

Of course that's if I had to take charge...otherwise I'm a ronin and they can fend for themselves...I'm better by myself...

I'll be a bit more clear: I'm not asking how you'd go about surviving, or anything. I'm more asking what sort of laws you would impose on your followers.

Also, no zombies.

That question reminded me of a film I saw a while ago, "The Book of Eli". The main plot is about a guy who desperately wants to find one of the last copies of the bible which wasn't destroyed in the apocalypse. He says he wants to use it to make people fear him and persuading them that he is destined by God to lead them.
I would say too, religion can be a very powerful tool to rule people, especially in such a situation.

I would try and avoid ruling, but if a group of people were desperate for me to leader then I wouldn't rule, I would govern.
I would guide the people to decide on their own laws and punishments.

I would promote 'a society governed by laws grounded in reason and compassion, not in fear or prejudice.'

Asking for specific laws is pretty impossible really.
