Here's my issue...
I was Apprenticed to a Councillor and GrandMaster of TOTJO (at the time), and I found that I was 'in the know' about things because we were friends, and we chatted daily, and I asked lots of questions.
Not 'in the know' about confidential Council secrets (if such a thing exists), but about stuff that is fine to be common knowledge but also not official enough to be publicly announced.
But I did encounter [strike]bitching[/strike] questions about how I always seemed to know so much. And, it's not nice to feel that you are under suspicion when your only 'crime' is being friends with your Master

So my message is this...if you want to know something...just ask a Councillor! As long as you are polite and respectful about it, they aren't going to mind...
If the answer to your question is confidential, they will explain that to you and you should work on the basis that they haven't told their Apprentice(s) either

I struggle to understand why someone would think you are a suck up or a brown noser, and I would guess that their issue has little to do with you...
Whatever the reasons, what people think of us is beyond our control, and should be beyond our caring. If our actions carry integrity, then @#$& em, and dont feed their drama.

V-Tog says ask a councilor if you do not know what is going on. What if they don't tell you what you want to know? So what? If you really are wanting to help evolve the order, then take the steps to get on the council through the IP and apprenticeships, get involved with the ToTJO community and whatever obstacles you are hit with to exact change your way, because others are blocking you- GET OVER IT. Recognize that this is an order for the members, not the council, not the novices or the guests: The Members. Those which are apprentices, clergy students, knights, masters and so forth. After all, those are the people that have decided to dedicate themselves to become the future of the order. Others will join in as they see fit, and if they don't like this flavor of Jedi, well there are a number of others to try out until you either find a place you like or decide the Jedi Path is not for you.

Polite reminder that not every member of this Jedi congregation has sought training or rank, and some of them like to be here just because.

As far as I understood it you're a member if you've completed the application and taken the oath. You're just not a Knight until you've completed the IP and an apprenticeship.
But that's just my understanding and I'm still a noob

Completion of the IP etc is really only if you want to study the force here at the temple... there is no need to study if you do not wish to.

Thank you V, you explained exactly what I've been feeling and experiencing much better than I was able to. Although, I will add that there have been times I've asked questions and was pretty much told it wasn't my business. So yes, we talk because I ask a lot of questions and we are friends so we talk every day, but he doesn't tell me everything like some people seem to think.
