I guess the best way I can answer this from the discussion and from my own personal thoughts is that the skills of that you should hone as a Jedi should be the ones that your "ideal Jedi" has. I mean when you imagine a Jedi, the skills that your imagined Jedi has should be the skills you seek to have in yourself. My personal imagined Jedi is an expert diplomat. The Jedi I imagine uses his wisdom and peace of mind to diffuse arguments and produce compromises and agreements, so that is a skill that I myself am trying to gain that you may or may not have any interest in. Of course there are more characteristics and skills that my imagined Jedi has, but my point is that maybe the inspiration you seek can be found within yourself and seeing how you define what being a Jedi means to you.
