I Lost A Whole Day Of My Life Because I.....

Like SeanChing, I only regret wasting time on people who ended up bringing nothing into my life. Investing time into another person that they really care nothing for is probably the worst way of spending time I can think of.

Other than that, I don't think of it. There's always work to do and if I tell myself I cannot rest and relax until it's done, I will ONLY work until the day I die. Life is meant to be enjoyed as well as molded and shaped. At least.. that's what I think.

Ya know, there are instances where I wonder about the path my life would have taken...

But, my biggest two, was not paying attention and trying harder in school...

And, not going into the military...

While obviously, I wouldn't be me, and I could have died, all things positive, I still, well, wonder, lol, when I ponder...

Oh if we're talking past mistakes/regrets that's another story. haha

I, too, wish I would have tried harder in school and not cared so much about boys. Again, going back to wasting my time on people who weren't worth wasting it on.

In the long run... I guess I wouldn't know if it was wasted until it was wasted...
otherwise.. why would I waste it?? It was what I wanted at the time.. and if I wanted it..
Just thinking "out loud" I suppose :P

Which brings me to another point. I have told my children on many occasions..."There is nothing you can do that I have not done, the trouble you caused for me, I caused for my father, and he caused for his father, and so on, and so on."

So, if our ancestors have all had these learning experiences, why do we keep repeating them? I watches the movie FAT ALBERT, 2 hours I can never get back. (some movies are not worth the celluloid they were made on)I was told not to waste my time watching it, but I did anyway. Even if you learn something from the experience, was the lesson really valuable or did you already know the lesson. The time was unproductive to your path. Why do we not trust each others judgments and opinions on this particular level?

Each life has a term limit (unlike Illinois politicians), so I do believe that we can waste time. We waste it by not following the path to enlightenment (of which I must be a big waster of time). I have been trying to eliminate the "down time", the TV time, the time that I know should be spent "doing something".

I'm not trying to pontificate, I guess I am just talking out loud about things in my life I wish to alter. So I don't say things like...

I lost 2 hours of my life watching FIFTH ELEMENT for the 38th time!

I love the Fifth Element! :)

I also love this topic, and I can totally relate. I once spent a weekend playing a online video game. It was interesting for the first hour but the next two days it was a total waste of time. I knew it, but I wanted to "level up"...like that made my real life better or something. Finally I just decided to delete my account and shut off the computer. It allowed me to focus my mind on things I found more worthwhile...like moving and blinking ;)

I sometimes have to do that with TV too. You just get fed up and decide to unplug for a week or month. Which I am going to do again. No more TV and no more useless cruising of the internet. I'm sure I have better things to do. I mean, why sit there and watch people do semi interesting things when I can do them myself?

OK, I change my answer....

I would better use my eyes to try to extinguish hot pokers than watch that movie again...

Wife and son, said they agreed...

The 5th element....milla jovovich+ bandaid bikini = gallons of drool  one of my many favorite movies

Ah why do we not trust in the experience of others....because we each experience the world differently...a thousand people may hate a movie, but another thousand may love it...how do we know if we'll love it or hate it if we don't experience it ourselves and learn?

Look at the movie ted....jestor hates it....I loved it...had I taken his view of it I would have never learned that I like it....

"Time You Enjoy Wasting is Not Wasted Time." - Marthe Troly-Curtin

In the same way I don't regard 'regret' as anything I submit to, neither do I regard 'wasting time' as something I will submit to either.

Why?

Because if I had done anything different then I wouldn't be me I would be someone else, and as I am contented with the person that I am I have nothing to be sorry for! :)

Jestor, I don't even ponder. It might be a curious subject but I never spend much time thinking about what might/could/should have been. I ultimately do not know so it's all hypothetical - and then I get back to focusing on 'my' life.

Had I tried harder at school for my A-levels I would never have returned here did you know? Or maybe I would have in time, I don't know because it didn't happen ad infinitum...

All is said.

Even if we have the impression to have wasted time on certain things, fact of realizing it is in itself a lesson and to learn a lesson is never of waste of time.
