I think you need to go out and meet some actual intelligent unique attractive teenaged girls, they do exist and I've met them.

No role models probably. I've always preferred the company of girls/women because I use to always know what I wanted to be and worked towards it. For me, when I found out eventually I couldn't do what I'd always wanted/planned to do I ended up slipping into that lack of self guidance, lost my inner power.... and girl's started to become a distraction because I could not relate to them in terms of that (my) inner power - it had nothing to do with them and in fact my entire perception was influenced by my own state of mind. If there is no effective role model (real or imagined) then guys might end up just needing to develop some supportive clique/gang of other guys to stew self development in a more familiar environment.

I'm a bit too old for that now. Back in college however guys were a minority in my class. Also the teenage girls I'm talking about are the ones I see outside. I don't know them or interact with them. I just hear them talk, see the way they act.
Either way, I'm talking about a group, not about individuals. So I only report on a trend I observe, not the specifics of "some teenage girls are intelligent and attractive". Besides, they can be the hottest smartest girl in town and still be shallow, bitchy and uninteresting. Why get a headache when you can play a game with your mates?

I must note that boys seem to be catching up on girls when it comes to being shallow/douchebags.

ren, you might consider that with age can come greater wisdom, so maybe things are still the same but you just have better eyes to see it with?

Maybe there is a 'demise of guys' but if that demise is simply a result of women having equal rights and the guys have less dominating control then I see no problem with it... Men have typically been in positions of power so now that women are also could be deemed a demise if you view it like that...

Or it could be viewed as society becoming fairer and stronger as a result...

That wouldn't explain boys though. They used to have no power.

I thought of that. But I think my observations are accurate. They seem to feel smarter, more entitled, less caring and less fearful of authority.

I see, even young children act in a way i find very strange. Did you talk to adults like they're a friend when you were a kid? At 12, did you ask women more than twice your age if they wanted a shag? These are the things I see. Children start off first as very tolerant, then develop bigotry. They seem to develop that bigotry younger and younger nowadays.

Not all children. My daughters perfect. Nyah.

jk

I thank her mother, though. My daughter is polite, inquistive and strong. Her brothers I dare say are more mature than I am and their still in their teens. Maybe we're witnessing a general reduction in the responsibility parents are taking to teach and set a good example...

i agree. i think it comes down to individual parental preference almost. by and large here in the south, we attempt to cultivate some modicum of civility. my son better not ever outright ask anyone if they fancy a shag at any age (at least not in my earshot. which is shrinking in range). he rightly respects and fears my authority, as i regularly invite him to challenge me if he dares in any number of endeavors. i would deal with him like i would any opponent, with no recourse and no remorse, and hopefully he would learn not to do that again, if said challenge was aggressive in nature. of course hes only seven now, but one day he will take me up on it and we will hit the local boxing ring and have a go.

off hand, i'd say yes many younger men are in fact "softer" and "weaker" than their older counterparts...i was brought up in a "rough and tumble" manner...we played outside, played aggressive/violent survival games, got beat when we made mistakes, had to do "manly" chores (chop wood, mow lawns, etc)...when we had problems with another we settled it like men, in a fair one on one fight with no weapons...today's younger men are quick to grab weapons, often attack in groups, often lack any semblance of honor or respect, have little to no discipline, as children they are often spoiled and pampered...now i know this isn't true of all, just most...or at least most of the ones i meet....i haven't met any younger than me that are as widely skilled/versed as i am, nor as durable...too many of them whine and complain about physical activity...

It's the computers and all that electronics stuff that's at fault. It started with TV and couch potatoes.
