Here's my gripe with both systems...no backwards compatibility....so if I want to play an older game I have to keep an additional system...its the same gripe I have with the 360 and ps3...then there's the whole exclusive title thing...in order to play a certain game you have to have a certain system...it's annoying, each system has games that are great but only available for one system...so if I want to play them I have to own the system...it's annoying...I don't have a ps3 because most of the games I like are on the 360...then there's the game "the last of us" which looks awesome, but alas is only for ps3...what bs...make people buy a system just for one or two good games....oh and of course the whole "let's make sure no one can buy used games" thing...if the games didn't cost a fortune to begin with there wouldn't be a used game market (or not much of one)...the creed is greed...they wanted a share of the money from games being resold, but couldn't get it so instead they make it so you have to pay them for a new game license in order to play a used game....
Warning: Spoiler!
There is passion, yet there is peace
Through passion I gain strength and knowledge
Through strength and knowledge I gain victory
Through victory I gain peace and harmony
Through peace and harmony my chains are broken
There is no death, there is the force and it shall free me

No more DRM! Microsoft has made dramatic changes in their Xbox One policies due to customer feedback.
So, there will be no 24 hour online check. There will be no used game restrictions. And there will be no regional restrictions.
Obviously, there are positive aspects to these changes. However, there are negatives as well. These changes mean that you will no longer be able to share games online with family and friends (you will simply share the disc or make use of the same console), downloaded titles cannot be shared or resold, and playing disc based games will require that the disc remain in the drive.
You will, of course, still be able to buy games online the day of release. For friends with slow internet connections, you can also install your disc based game on their console and they can then purchase the game online and will not be required to download the entire game or keep the disc in the drive while playing.
- An internet connection will not be required to play offline Xbox One games!
- Trade-in, lend, resell, gift, and rent disc based games just like you do today!
- Games will be playable on any Xbox One console - no regional restrictions!

I read this today too. Proud of Microsoft for listening to their customers. I'm sure a lot of gamers and Xbox loyalists are happy.
Cool stuff!

Goddamit, now I have to think which one to get again! :pinch:
Still, it's really good of Microsoft to change their plans. Nice one.

I'm possibly going to be backing out of my X1 pre-order because of this news.
I can now no longer share games with my cousin in Hawaii, friend in Canada, siblings in Utah, and the rest of my family that are multiple hours away here in-state.
I can now no longer share -any- of the online purchases I make, including DLC.
I regularly travel, and attend conventions, even play tournaments. Worst thing about that is having to bring a suitcase -just- for my games.
I also regularly attend get togethers where there is one console, and we switch playing games based on who brought what, and who wants to play what. Sometimes everyone watches one person play a single player, or we load up a four player game, or even get a second console out and play a 4v4.
Forgetting games at either of those, or even forgetting a game at home on the way to either of those is a major pain, you can lose out on entrance fees to the tournaments, or you can even permanently lose your game if you accidentally leave it at the location.
The number one requesting thing by most gamers was "let us install the game, and not have to switch discs"
The new DRM was there to fix these, to allow that. Now it's all gone.

Sadly, soya, people didn't understand what they were getting. Many people thought DRM was being added to limit and restrict sharing and reselling. I see Microsoft's previous model as the future of gaming consoles, but it may take a while to convince the majority of gamers of the benefits. (If you're not offended by offensive language,

.)
You realize you will still be able to log-in to any console and play any of the games that you've purchased digitally (and that all games will be available for purchase digitally the day of release)? If you buy a game on disc, the disc will still be required.
In your case, it seems like your best bet is to purchase the digital versions. You'll have to download each game on every additional console and your friends can only play when you're logged in. Not ideal, but not too bad.
Don't neglect the possibility that some of the original features may be reintroduced on the console in the future (obviously only after it's been made very clear to the average consumer what the benefits are to them). Microsoft may also find alternative ways of implementing progressive technology that people will be more comfortable with.

don't like xbox at all, and don't like also Microsoft way....
But several years ago, when Micro$oft take RARE. I say
if one day, Rare develop Killer Instinct for xbox, I buy the console, JUST FOR THAT ONE GAME.
So, now... I am going to wait for it....
Best fighting game ever

Interesting. Thanks, 666. Somehow I'd missed that particular exclusive.
Based on what I just read in the Wiki entry , it looks like you'll be able to download the game for free and play with one character (Jago), but can purchase additional characters.

Some things to consider when you buy your xbox: Microsoft uses child slave labour. Microsoft replaces american workers with low-wage H1-B workers from India. Microsoft was the first company to participate in PRISM (surveillance program), according to leaked NSA documents obtained by The Guardian and The Washington Post in June 2013, and acknowledged by government officials following the leak. The program authorizes the government to secretly access data of non-us citizens hosted by American companies without a warrant. Microsoft has denied the participation in such a program.

Whyte Horse, Microsoft isn't the evil empire that you portray it as. A huge portion of the population of Seattle (and surrounding areas) works for Microsoft, and it is a very fair and honest company. Job satisfaction is high and it's fantastic in terms of health care, benefits, and its work toward equal rights for all employees. The amount of time and money that Microsoft contributes to the local community and larger charitable organizations is also significant.
I don't believe that Microsoft was knowingly or willingly involved with PRISM. I don't know anything about the "child slave labour" issue that you raised, so I won't comment on that other than to say it doesn't sound like Microsoft. The company actively shows concern for the well-being of its foreign employees, just as it does for its local employees. Not everything is a conspiracy.
