I feel I should explain myself here, I forget we are from different world's, on reading this back it appears I have a problem with single parent families and I really don't lol... What I meant by it was that here in Scotland (Dundee especially) there are a lot of "Babies Having babies", 15 / 16 years old boyfriend leaves them, and then they have a kid to bring up, when they have hardly experienced a life themselves.

(it was meant as a joke, sincere apologies if I offended anyone)

Anyhow... back on topic..

I don't have children, but I do have nieces and nephews that visit often enough for me to make observations....

I'll use my now 10 year old nephew for example....he's been playing violent video games since he was first able to hold a controller, his current favorite is the newest call of duty...his favorite missions are the zombie levels...he spends the weekend every week when the walking dead airs, he loves violent movies...yet has never once been in trouble at school or anywhere else for fighting or committing any other aggressive or violent acts...when I talk to him he has a firm grasp of morality and reality....he even manages to sneak peeks at various sources of porn(not from me) despite that, he knows not to discuss it unless he's around family....I'm always impressed with the level of maturity, and comprehension he displays....and most importantly he takes responsibility for his decisions...he never blames anyone or anything when he does get in trouble...

Lol...my mom had me 13 days after she turned 17, my sis had her first kid 1 month after turning 16...all the girls I knew growing up had kids before reaching 20...

And here I am a few years shy of 40 and childless...and still getting harassed by my aunt about when I plan to have kids...I keep telling her I'm too smart for that

Sigh, I feel your pain there. My grandmother has been telling me for almost 8 years now that im "pushing my luck" on the having children front. Im a huge disapointment to her and my mother. She once told a boyfriend that id brought to dinner to meet my family that she was expecting grandchildren within a year. Im sure I dont need to elaborate on how well that turned out.

That's why when I did have a girlfriend I made sure to keep her away from my family my aunt has since concluded I must be gay(I'm not) and my mom is constantly saying she wants a grandchild from me since I'm the "good one"....

Don't let your gran get to you, life moves at its own pace, things happen(or don't) when the time comes...

In high school my friend used to jokingly say: there's someone for everyone, the one for you must of been aborted ....

I would usually just laugh and shrug it off....

Well here's a recent study that shows kids who play violent games have an increased risk of being violent. the study

We can sit here and make excuses all day long but we all know the truth... if you teach a person to be violent they become violent. It is a learned behaviour. Violent games teach this behaviour. So yeah go ahead and teach your kids how to be violent and then hope they overcome it.

I'm pretty sure most ppl here who played violent games joined the military with the intention of legally killing someone and acting out their fantasy game world murders... just sayin...

Few are those who see with their own eyes and feel with their own hearts.

As akkarin pointed out some time ago, your study does not prove causation. It is more likely that violent kids sought out violent games and bought them. I remember when one of the GTAs came out, and the game store in town was not selling it to anyone under 18. Direct notification that some games are not for children, just like some movies.

Also, I almost resent your dim view blanket statement on those who join the military, for whatever . I say almost because such a statement is clearly meant to be inflammatory, as you are otherwise too intelligent to believe that the millions of vets and active duty servicemembers actually just want to murder people or whatever BS you said.

Nice try, dude.

It's worth waiting for the right person I think, but then again people change, I wish that things could have been different with me and my ex as far as raising our son is concerned, he was planned and we really thought we were going to be together forever, but alas she completely changed after she had him and things broke down in our relationship, I'm just glad I still get to see him and be a part of his life, that and he gets on really well with my partner now which is helpful.

Still in saying that parenthood is not something I would jump into with both feet, you'll know yourself when the time is right for you. :)

I recall not too long ago I was playing Killzone online with my brother at 2am and some little kid come into the room, full comms etc "hello, hello" and I was thinking to myself, this kid sounds about 12 (if that) why the hell are they playing Killzone 2 (18) at 2am and what kind of parent lets their kid online with an adult game and headset to sit and chat to any which weirdo. scary stuff.

on the kids sub topic: we shouldn't feel the need to have children, it's not like we are running out....

on the original topic: yes violent video games revealed a very impatient and almost unbearable side of my sister, but the same happened to my father with traffic lights, why isn't anybody picketing:
-Traffic lights?
-Printers?
-Computers?

they give the same reaction, yes there are studies on video game behaviour, but if we took a guy to survey the behaviour of somebody going through the ordeal of a traffic jam, we would probably have a similar study.
