I know that this may be a bit redundant, but what's important can be redundant. I've written about this stuff and have been slapped for it for a few years. Not as many years as Sir Ken has, so that is maybe why he's so much better at it ...

So, instead of me prattling on, I'll let him tell you :

If I can find again an open letter that I sent to the Institut LaSalle while back, I'll try to post it. You may spend the time until then learning French in order to read it.

Something that scares me about said test is that this in not the only representation of what adults can sometimes force upon their children. The documentary, Jesus Camp, for those who have yet to watch it, should definitely give it a look as it ties in with this subject quite well. As per my experience, it seems that many around me and myself are products of our environment, yet I have been able to look beyond the boundaries of my initially strict Christian views and realize that there are fallacies and truths in all things. Though the moments of realization of a bigger picture are harder to come by for many, it is most definitely a moment of awakening which has forever changed my life and helped me to embrace people of all cultures, religions and social status.

Anyway, enough of my rambling. The link I have attached is a link to the whole documentary and if you have an hour and a half of free time, it is definitely worth a watch! Though it may be alarming and somewhat controversial to some, it most certainly ties in with the very "Christian" responses to the grade 4 science test.

And a trailer for those who simply want the gist of it :p

We wish we could, Sajjad.

Then you could howl at us for what bad taste we have in sense of humour.

Mais hélas ! C'est tristement vrai ...

I had to read the quiz twice before I saw the title of the quiz...

Had I taken this quiz, not only would I have failed but I would have certainly been suspended for throwing it at the teacher for failing me on it...I have done so in the past ( it got me kicked out of the accelerated learning program) later I was proven not to have failed....

It disgusts me to think that there are still idiots of that caliber in the world...

Everything we learn is potentially wrong. religious or scientific brainwash? Same thing. What really matters is that we know how to question things, instead of cowering into community/group/pack mentality just because it's safe and easy...

snopes.com has been unable to verify whether it is real or not. The issue I have with it is that somehow the father didn't know about the content being taught at all before the test? Perhaps not...

But the sophistication and accuracy of all the answers for a 4 year old is quite good... leading one to believe that it is fake...

The fact that GOD!!! and BIBLE!!! are so different would make me believe that the child is devout and so would have made mention to the family. There is no mention of a mother so it makes me think that there is only 1 parent who would probably keep up to date with what the child was doing...

Those words are also the most fundamentalist and highlighting them like this (if you wanted to provoke a reaction and were faking it) would explain why they are so radically different...

I think this is someone trying to get creationism banned from being taught in schools...

I don't believe this is real...

I put the link in my OP to snopes so others will know it's still under debate....

I believe it's real because I know the religious training I went through by my parents. 6am scripture study every morning, family prayer morning and night, at least 4-5 hours in religious instruction every Sunday by church teachers and my father, etc...

But you do bring up some good points; I guess we'll have to see. The school won't speak out about it though, so that's interesting...
