Angelus, Knight, Ceremony, 2012

The Council is pleased to announce that there will be a ceremony in Chat:
Tues 7th August at 1600 UTC
to formally promote Angelus to the rank of Jedi Knight. All are welcome to attend!

I have great respect for you, Jedi Knight Angelus. It must take a TON of time and work to achieve Jedi Knighthood. I hope I can achieve what you have one day!

That's 5pm in the UK.

For future reference, there's a UTC clock at the very top of every page on TOTJO.

It's that pesky daylight savings that confuses things! For half of the year we in the UK follow UTC (GMT) and the other half of the year we're an hour ahead (BST)!

Ceremony was Cancelled as Damion didn't show up and Angelus was 30 minutes late and Mark couldn't stay.

It hasn't happened Lykeios. I'm sure that when it is rescheduled the new date and time will be posted in this thread, so keep a look out for it

Damion, Tues 7th August at 1600 UTC is equivalent to 12:00 EDT (which is EST zone during daylight saving)

Totally my fault as when I translated from UTC to EST, I added 5 hours instead of taking it away. My original message to Damion was:
Tues 7th August at 9pm EST (that's 4pm UTC)

So it seems that Angelus took note of the correct UTC time but was late, and Damion noticed the incorrect EST time and missed it!

I shall smack myself on the hand and reschedule

BTW, Americans refer to the "winter" timezone (EST) even in summer (should be EDT). This means that when they are using daylight saving time, it's UTC -4 (and not -5)

Pacific, Mountain, Central (Damion John, me, Phortis), and Eastern...
