Nature does not need Jehovah or his witnesses to create uranium.
However I wonder what happens if you write a mail with key words like plutonium, critical mass etc.

The world doesn't need nuclear scientists or people who are informed about this topic that make fun of it either. At least not in public because someone will believe the things they say. This fun might cause more damage than the media.

There's a guy who built a homemade reactor in his shed using aluminium foil, fire detectors and old clocks :P He might have managed to breed a few plutonium atoms.

I know some fire detectors work with radioactive sources and as I found out recently, aluminium foil has a higher activity than a laboratory table one which is worked with radioactive substances :)
I don't know what role the clock plays but I'm reminded of MacGyver somehow.

I believe it is actually all... or at least all the ones I know about

A radioactive source emits radiation, the detector detects it but the radiation (beta? I think) gets absorbed by smoke particles so...

Fire = smoke = rises into fire detector = goes in between radioactive source and radiation detector = less radiation = alarm! :)

If I remember correctly, the radiation is an Alpha wave. This causes an ionization of the molecules in the air between the anode side and cathode side so that electric current can pass between.

The current is constant and sends a closed signal to the unit. When “smoke” passes between the anode and cathode it breaks the current (due to lack of ionization) and creates an open in the circuit.

This radiation is easily stopped by the demise layer of skin, but if you were to get any inside you and it were to travel to a dermas that was designed for absorption, say your intestinal track, it could be detrimental to your health.

Right. That sounds more plausible! :D

Alpha would make more sense too...

The guy was collecting radium from old clocks.
