I think therefore I Am?
Descartes, in the Third Meditation, wrote: 22. There only remains, therefore, the idea of God, in which I must consider whether there is anything that cannot be supposed to originate with myself. By the name God, I understand a substance infinite, [eternal, immutable], independent, all-knowing, all-powerful, and by which I myself, and every other thing that exists, if any such there be, were created. But these properties are so great and excellent, that the more attentively I consider them the less I feel persuaded that the idea I have of them owes its origin to myself alone. And thus it is absolutely necessary to conclude, from all that I have before said, that God exists.
Because an idea is an object, it exists...
As God is an idea, it (he/she) exists...
He could not imagine all around him, and as he is not God, something made it...
I agree, his logic is, what did RyuJin call it? "Cartesian circle"...
I made a similar comment the other day, only I didnt know RyuJin's term, I had to go look that up, lol...
He can only deduce the existence by the separation of the known, and by playing "the game of black and white"...
Insanity has its advantages, lol... The logic makes sense to me... Too much, uh, 'thought' altering substances in my youth?

Descartes can imagine (or think about) things so great that he feels compelled to believe that this thing created him. Basically, he believes that anything he can think of is real as long as it's preposterous.

Could his point have been to define God in concepts about philosophy of the mind?

Yeah then he'd travel back in time to the 20th century and stuff...
Also you (ren) or Jestor have to define 'exist'
How would we know we exist if couldn't think of it? (Biocentrism)
