Another incredible female vocalist.... a master of both singing and screaming, with a distinctive style and an amazing attitude... ;)

(I couldn't decide on which one I wanted to post more so I'll post them both)

This is Come What May by Iced Earth. One of my favourite songs, and one you may notice I quote often. It's from the Crucible of Man album, and is the conclusion to the Something Wicked cycle, which tells a pretty epic story. The basic story of the song is that the antagonist has decided not to destroy humanity, but give them a chance to live out their lives, as they have shown potential to rise above their "bestial" natures and truly accomplish beautiful things. If I was to learn to play a violin, it would be to play the bridge on this song.

It's traditional-styled heavy metal with a power metal twist, for those who are interested in such things. Clean vocals. Amazing vocalist, Matt Barlow.

As I watch through the ages
And gaze upon this world
The troubled race of man
So impetuous and afraid
There's potential in this race
A man can spark hope
But in masse they do regress
A constant downward slope

How have they come so far
Yet have so far to go
It seems evolution stalled
On the nature of a man
From living in caves
To manned flights in space
And for all that is worth
Still the sad pathetic race

[Chorus:]
Can't you see what's plain as day
It's always been there inside of you
One saving grace that's hard to face
Embracing the truth will change your fate
It's up to you and the path you choose
To be led to the slaughter or lead the way
The quest for light, a worthwhile fight
Will you have what it takes?
Come what may

[Bridge:]
If you'd just look
Look inside yourselves
You'll find the answers to your pain
The hardest road
The hardest road to enlightenment
Presents a constant test
Of your resolve
Time for you
Time for you is running out
The human race must evolve
Must evolve

[Chorus:]
Can't you see what's plain as day
It's always been there inside of you
One saving grace that's hard to face
Embracing the truth will change your fate
It's up to you and the path you choose
To be led to the slaughter or lead the way
The quest for light, a worthwhile fight
Will you have what it takes?
Come what may

Thanks William, wasn't aware anyone else here was a fan. This is probably my favorite track from "Something Wicked This Way Comes."

Stoner metal... Kylesa are a stand-out band in the genre apart from the obvious ones like QOTSA & Kyuss. I found this album to be a great soundtrack for jogging to. It's real head-nodding, foot-plodding stuff with just a touch of psychedelia :silly:
