So far it is the only example of life known to exist, anywhere ever. Even if there is life all over the universe... it is still where humanity arose and will always be unique in its diversity and evolution. Not to mention the biosphere is more complex then anything humanity has ever created so lets not be too quick to throw it in the useless basket.

Love that you touched on population. It's definitely something to watch. However, I don't remember chucking planet Earth into the useless basket. ;) I just was pointing out another side. Nothing lives forever, and I don't plant to cry over the end of humanity...especially since it hasn't happened yet.

Not that I'm opposed to change. I very much want an eco friendly home; solar panels, thermal energy, a well, a garden/pond fish house thingy...and I do spend a lot of time in nature. I'm just not going to spit on those who plan to live differently. I mean, we had our industrial revolution and grew from that, and now we're trying to become more eco friendly. Other countries around the world are still in that uber pollution phase and they'll eventually grow out of it too.

Change is inevitable.

And didn't they find microbes on a meteor or something?

I remember something about that, but I can't remember the specifics. Definately worth looking back into!

I was in the HVAC business for 20 years before Firefighting. One of the things I learned was that, a body sitting at a conference table doing nothing, generates 500 btuh of heat. As that body starts to eat, that number goes to 600-700 btuh. A running body generates above 1000 btuh.

It just goes to show 2 things

1 - the more population there is in the same space, the warmer the static temperature will be.

2 - All these exercise fads are the cause of global warming...become a couch potato and save the planet! :P
