Because people are afraid of going to Hello, and they do not want to see others go to Hell. Furthermore, they believe God does not want to see His children go to Hell....wait...that requires me to believe most of these people have put that much thought into their motives.

Here's the reality: No one has challenged these people to question their motives. They blindly follow their peers who are blindly following the tradition of the church. It's group think mentality.

Next time you encounter someone protesting gays, ask them why they are so worried about another's free will decision to disobey the Christian God.

Just you only mentioned they had a sign saying sermon on homosexuality, not if the sign said something like "Come learn how to identify the satanic homosexuals". I have heard of more and more churches attempting to educate others about the fact homosexuality is perfectly normal, though sadly it's probably right to assume they weren't wanting to spread a positive message.

The impression I get is that these institutions keep up with the illogical belief against non-heterosexuals because it's something they can take a firm stand on, something they can 'control' in a world that is rapidly changing.

Amras never said whether it was a good or bad sermon, but I bet most, including myself, thought it was a bad sermon...

My co-worker does not believe that being gay is right...

I ask him why, and he says cause the bible says so... lol...

When i ask about the other things (help me bible people, wearing wool, right? PM me examples, I'm serious)

So, I ask how he can follow some of what the bible says, and not all...

He says its interpretation.. lol... he meant the gay stuff, but not the will and shaving stuff?

People are so funny...

"Sin," in the christian sense is disobedience to God's law.
Those who tend to take the bible literal fail 99% in understanding.
They tend to ignore who the passage was written to, for one.
They tend to ignore the culture of the time, for two.
They tend to ignore that laws of the land at that time, for three.
They tend to not study what words meant then, for four.
Which in turn leads to a COMPLETE misunderstanding of what the passage says.

Then those who are fanatics raise signs saying, "God hates fags,"
or any other sort of belittling saying their minds can think of.

But what I read in the bible it says that "God is love."
Hmmm hard one to figure out who is wrong there.
Those with the signs!
Those who would deny free-will to others.
Those who spew such hate and vile contempt to others who are different.
Those who say, "do not," but then do that which they say, "don't do."

No, It is quite easy to know those who love "God," vs those who do not.
Like the bible says, "by their fruits ye shall know them."
The fruit of hate.
The fruit of slavery.
The fruit of contempt.
The fruit of double standards.

It is actually quite easy to see who does and who does not love, "GOD."
