And V-tog the Valiante, the brave damsel who tamed the time out monster speaks !
... and speaks the truth very well also.
To be honest, I never was afraid of Scientology, even knowing nothing about it. I rememeber when everyone was rushing out to get "Dianetics" (not sure of the spelling there and too feignasse to look it up right now), sort of like "The Secret" took off a few years ago. Funny, I always just sort of acquainted it with people who got into pyramid marketing stuff like "Am-way". I had a friend who took me to an Am-way thingy in the early 90's, and the whole evening felt like being in a weird sect. It was never clear that we wouldn't be sacrificed to the 'god of going-direct' and a particular moment.
:evil:
I doubt that Scientology is as dangerous as Am-way ... :dry:
So, I also am looking forward to what the investigation reveals. We are dedicated to understanding, after all.

I totally agree with you Lykeios.
I don't claim to know a lot about Scientology, but what I do know angers me. A lot of innocent people have been duped by the Church of Scientology.

Personally I want nothing to do with it. I've never once heard a happy healthy story about Scientology. To be really fair I'd have to read the literature on it but I just can't bring myself to read a science fiction author's assertions about ultimate reality.
No offense intended to anyone.

I don't know much either. Its more personal for me really. My grandfather divorced my grandmother after 30+ years of marriage simply because he was told to by the church. I'm not sure of the details as I was rather young, but I remember that it was because of Scientology. Reminds me a lot of "Rev" James Jones and other cults like that. Horrible horrible things can happen in these secretive new-age religions.
Perhaps that's why I went the opposite and became a member of an ancient cult (in a manner of speaking anyway). :laugh:
In any case, I shouldn't be so close-minded. I have been interested in learning more about exactly what scientologists believe but I have yet to get past the oddity of it all. Not to mention I absolutely refuse to pay for any of their materials.
Thanks for bringing this up Wescli, it certainly is a good idea to shed some light on these more secretive NRMs.

So, what I am getting from this is that none of us seem to know much about scientology?!?!?
Then this would be a good topic to research! I am still open to any stories, insight or past experiences!

None here, but I've run into the odd reference in my readings. Things like working with theta waves;
I don't think this is from Scientology but I think Hubbard did write things on that sort of thing being related to the source of life and 'Thetans'!?

My teacher back in the 80's was trained in Scientology. Now I don't know much about the 'mainstream' 'church' but she used a few of their more positive 'beliefs' (sorry for all the quotations) and used a couple on me, I have to admit it did have a positive effct on me, but we were barely going there. That and she didn't charge ridiculous amounts, it was more like passing an offering plate and we put in what we could, even spare change.
What I experienced with her in 1989 has made momentous and positive changes in my life, if I would quit letting mundane distactions from keeping me from progressing.
