What are your thoughts on this?
Once we die, our energy disperses and returns to the universe to be re-purposed. As I believe the energy disperses I don't believe it can be there be there to 'look out for someone'.

My thought, is that a persons consciousness is theirs and theirs alone and cannot be passed on. The energy of the recently deceased though can by all means pass onto or into surrounding people and even inanimate objects, as everything has energy.
In a way, once we die and your energy disperses, you have reached enlightenment and your path is complete. The paths of humans are all the same in my eyes. . . Just live and make the best of your physically embodied time as possible.

The issue I have is that unless you can show and explain these 'guardians' through means of experimentation and verified documentation then I have no reason to place those ideas above the idea that a supreme god doesn't do it instead
I don't see a verifiable conclusion that comes to guardian angels of whatever sort

I used to believe, based on experiences I had growing up, but I have since consciously chosen not to believe because I'm disgusted by god/goddesses/angels' discrimination on who they choose to help.
I'd rather they help the starving child in Africa then a middle-class teenager from suburbia like me that never really knew hardship.
I'd rather they help the 4 year old girl that was pulled out of her own bed, raped, strangled and then drowned then help a young man feel comforted after his wisdom teeth were pulled (me again)
I met a young woman almost a week ago and we've hit off a very enjoyable, instant friendship. Her stories of what happened to her growing up are heart-wrenching: stories of molestation by her father, sex slavery, drugs by her mother...all of this happening before she was even 15 years old.
Where on God's green earth were HER guardian angels? Where was God to help her? If it was because he was helping me find my lost basketball and he can't do two things at once, I'd gladly give back ALL those experiences I had that made me feel like someone was there if it would relieve the terrible fear and suffering of those that truly had nobody...not even their own family.
Where are you God? Certainly not with some of your creatures that needed you the most...
I believe in the Force now. Non-discriminatory. Always there. For light or dark.

I have found that some of the visualizations I learned while studying paganism are helpful. I frequently use one designed to raise a barrier that is supposed to block out stray/unwanted/bad energies when I have an inexplicable feeling of stress or unease.
