The Thank You Button? And, Appreciation In General...

I'm not sure whether you got my meaning or not (you may have done, I might just be being stupid). I just meant that you don't know if people are taking notice of thanks given to them, but just aren't choosing to make that obvious by writing out a further response. So in that way, it is an assumption. For all we know, and we have no way of knowing unless lots of people have been asked about it, everyone might always check back to see whether they've been thanked.

V-Tog wrote: You talk about people not taking any notice of thank yous. But that's an assumption - I, for instance, always check back on posts that I've written to see if anyone has thanked me or replied specifically to my post. However, I'm not going to reply again just to say "thanks for the thanks"...because that seems pretty silly. You'd end up going "thanks for the thanks for the thanks for the thanks for the thanks"
I do the same thing.
I always will go back and check my posts to see if someone responded to it so I don't seem rude if they asked a question and I never acknowledged.
(This is a test for V-Tog, please respond with the answer to 2+2 if you've read this reply...lol. Just kidding.)

I would also add that I sometimes use the 'Thank You' button when someone has made an announcement that I've read but don't want to reply to but want to ensure that they know I've replied
I would do this more so in the Knight's Forum with apprentice announcements and what have you etc

I have noticed however that some people seem to thank each other back and forth. Or maybe they are just being a bit heavy handed on the blue button?

Not to see if someone thanked my post.

I use the Thank You to show I've watched a video(appreciation for time and effort taken on our behalf)

I use the Thank You when I agree with a statement made:)
I use the Thank You when some one has posted something very thought provocing(sp)
and
I use the Thank You when someone has made my day by making me smile or even laugh out loud
Too much

I like people to know they are appreciated for whatever it is they have to offer.

We seemed to have strayed away from my initial question!
Here were my initial questions:
1. Is saying thank you too often annoying?
2. Should people who say thank you too often "cut down" their thank yous?
3. Do you usually ignore the thank yous you receive? Or do you pay attention to them? (This was answered by a lot of you, however...)
etc.

I don't personally thank, a thank you, but will sometimes acknowledge it with a further comment, if it is somewhat relevant.
Did I get all the questions thaat time...

No to the first two questions, it seems a harmless method of expression. I tend to look at who says thank you to all posts I read, just to get an idea what individuals think.
