Thanks Plo, it's all down to me, I organised the whole Olympics actually...
Seems to be going well so far, but then we haven't exactly had very much of it.
However, I like to think that the Opening Ceremony was one of the best ever...not necessarily in spectacular-ness, but in actually having some character and charm  No-one could compete with the money and technology poured into the Beijing Ceremony, so the aim was always just to be quintessentially British instead. I think even we Brits were expecting it to be more pompous and serious than it was. If you haven't watched it...I would recommend watching it. Perhaps with the parade skipped because that took AGES! But...take a bow Rowan Atkinson!
Reading the reviews have been amusing too. The consensus' are...that none of us Brits had really remembered that we invented the internet. And a lot of us had kind of forgotten about how we got really rich from the Industrial Revolution. And everyone's been squabbling for weeks about who was going to light the torch, but absolutely no-one guessed that it would be lit the way it was. Also, we all forgot that the Queen famously has a fantastic sense of humour.
Some great venues for the various competitions as well. I think we forget just how much sport goes on in London, and how many famous sporting venues we have as a result of British sporting history. When the President of the IOC said that sport was coming home because we basically invented modern sport, I was like "What nonsense! What on Earth is he talking about? Oh, hang on...maybe we did..."
However, bear in mind that we Brits are horribly pessimistic, so we're kind of trying really hard to feel proud of ourselves, but really everyone's just waiting for something major to go wrong...

Keep up the good work Victoria
I just literally right now finished watching the last 30 minutes of the opening ceremony, in 3D!! I love 3D, thanks BBC!! One thing though, 3D doesnt really work for swimming - because they are all in the water LOL.

There wasn't enough pink floyd.
Also, it was the web, not the internet.... And it was invented by a british and a belgian guy... At cern. They should have used (an actor for) Alan Turing. He invented computing. He killed himself because he was being persecuted for being gay. In the living they could have also used Sophie wilson and Steve furber who invented ARM. The most successful computer architecture. It's in your mobile phone, in your washing machine, everything.

I've always been proud to be a Brit and the opening ceremony raised that feeling. I hope everyone enjoyed it as much as I did!
The only problem with watching the ceremony while on holiday is that the Turks don't really seem to have any sports channels, bar Eurosports, and it was all in German. My German is very poor now having not spoken it for about 14 years
It didn't spoil the moment though!!!
