I would think that it would be more accurately stated as, “Jedi are not supposed to have bad habits or let something control their lives.” :silly:

Having a drink every once in a while is no worse than drinking a soda pop by most comparisons. It is when we take things or allow them to go into excess that I would feel it would become a problem. But who is to determine what would constitute in excess? Even I will have a beer from time to time.

But that of course depends on what your working model of a Jedi is.

Just my opinion. ;)

And if you're looking for a chat, just put a notice in the shout box that you'll be in chat and invite others to join you. Though please, for the love of the Force, don't clog up the shout box unnecessarily. It's for announcements first and foremost, if someone needs immediate help or wishes to say hello to the group at large. It is not a chat room.

Good reminder!

I'll make sure not to mention talking coyotes while walking in 113 degree heat in Shout next time, LOL.

Eh, I was joking. But, thanks for bringing it around to the true topic. ;)

I think if you are letting ANYTHING control you, you have somehow limited your freedom. And, you also have the choice of getting that freedom back, but you have to work for it.

I know I was/am kinda still addicted to food. I gained 100 pounds in 7 years as proof for that. But, at the time, I wasn't even aware of my condition. I ignored the threats around me as non important. If there is ONE thing to be certain of in addiction: Heed the words of your friends and family, they usually point it out before you notice it yourself.

But, when you're letting something like alcohol, drugs, or even food or EVEN exercise control YOU, then you don't have control. It's not always a choice either. Our brains modify to accept these conditions of subordination and subject our bodies to the desires after which we crave.

That's a WHOLLLE other discussion, though.
