How do you define mind? Science shows us that there are thousands of processes that occur at any given moment outside our direct awareness. Further, while a deliberate interference is possible, the vast majority of actions we take are decided by the committee which is our bodies and then rationalized by a declaration from our waking mind. By the time I think, "I'd like to move my left arm" my body has already started sending all the necessary signals and committed to the action. My decision to move my arm was not made by my consciousness.

Now, this is all moot if by mind you mean the entire neurological and nervous system, but those are integral parts of the body as well so I'm unsure how a separation could be declared. Unless of course your statement is more one about attachment as csmith was saying and then I think I've gone tangent.

As a side connection, the Force connects all things. In such a way, the mind defining itself based off what it perceives rather than itself makes a sort of sense. We can only see the self as a reflection through all other things and as the reflection exists within the Force just as readily as everything else, we do see a very real part of ourselves in those things. It becomes like all things, however, the middle path of Buddha, the temperance in all things or Christianity, is often the best direction. Recognize the Force in all things, both your body and mind as well as those things external to you that you care about, whether living or inanimate. Love them all as you love yourself but remember that you are only your car or your clothes or your friends or family in so much as your connection through the Force and your role or manifestation within the Force is unique, just as everyone else's. Thus, recognize and love the reflection of self seen in all things but realize that your incarnation is unique and no true answers about your current self can be found in those other things, but only in what they point to within.

What I am saying is my body does not define me. My mind does.

Yes, but for the sake of understanding each other, how do you define "mind"?

That is a matter of point of reference

To yourself you are your thoughts. But to others you are your actions. After all they do not know your thoughts, only your do, and because of that they must assume that your actions are a reflection of what you believe

It depends on where you placing the observer as to what defines you

Have you ever had a thought come into your head that you would never act out?

Agreed...

As the fruit to the tree and the water to the spring, so is action to thought. It does not come into manifestation suddenly and without a cause. It is the result of a long and silent growth; the end of a hidden process which has long been gathering force. The fruit of the tree and the water gushing from the rock are both the effect of a combination of natural processes in air and earth which have long worked together in secret to produce the phenomenon; and the beautiful acts of enlightenment and the dark deeds of sin are both the ripened effects of trains of thought which have long been harbored in the mind. ~James Allen~
