I am only my mind was created by
When I take away my, clothes, house, car, possessions, job, appearance, property and belongings I do not become any less me. I am not these things. I am only your mind. The body is but a shell to keep my mind alive. I am only my thoughts and feelings. These thoughts and feelings are my individuality and my own existence. Without my clothes, possessions, belongings etc I am still me. I am still completely myself and not at any loss.

This is but reality that has been hidden by unnecessary consumerism. I find comfort in the nice things in life. Comfortable clothes, a nice home, nice belongings and sexual pleasure. But these do not define who I am. They are only objects. I am me because of my own mind and my own will. I cannot be made of these objects only my thoughts and feelings.

My mind is me. My path is my identity and not a set of robes I can ware and discard whenever I please.

That was interesting.
Although, I sincerely hope I am not my mind. I'm one of those weirdos that believes in spirits/souls and what not. If I were my mind... I probably wouldn't be here right now.

What about reincarnation??? There are quite a few individuals who strongly believe in it....mankind likes to think he knows everything so he can pretend to have all the answers. Have you experienced a near death experience??? What about that?

My friend who have been going to see quite abit latey due to her hubby's illness, said something interesting on Monday night when we were on our 2nd bottle of wine. She calmed that this would be the last time she will be here on earth. She said that she has been here so many times that this time, when she passes, she will become a spirit guide and not return for another life.

UUUMMMMM. I know she's defintaley spiritual but I did find her statement hard to grasp....

To exist within time is to exist within duality. At once a part within time and without as well as a part in the physical and a part in the mental. To say "I am my only my mind" is to ignore the reality that is the body. To say "I am only my body" ignores the reality of the mind. To say my "my mind is all I am contained within the body its shell" is to ignore the transcendent part of self that exists outside time and dualism. For the very nature of dualism is to imply something external to itself.

The mind does not know the present. It only knows the past or what it presumes of the future. It defines it self exclusively by those things which are external to itself. What you aspire, what you have done before, what you possess or do not possess, who your friends are, who your enemies are, what you believe, what you shun are all how the mind defines itself. In such fashion it convinces itself "I am all there is" while losing track of the only point in time which we are capable of existing in and is at the same time timeless, the present.

I am my body. I am my mind. I am transient. I am eternal. I am dualistic. I am transcendent. All these statements point at a truth but are still the mind hiding inside a kernel of truth. The only statement free from the mind entirely is, "..." Just as a mind without a body is nothing.

This is not to preclude or exclude the existence of states of existence beyond this form, but right now, as long as my body exists, it is as much a part of me as everything else.

I can respect the fact that our minds are more than we think they are.. but I'm simply not completely my mind when left bare with nothing else. I am an eternal soul with thoughts, experiences and memories than transcend time.
Again, that is my own belief and I do not hold everyone else to that belief of mine. :)

Zenchi yes I have had a near death experience. I was hiking in the cairngorm mountains when I got lost trying to find a near by shelter. I had to sleep outside in sub 0 temperatures with no tent and no decent survival equipment. I was hypothermic and had no chance of getting any more warmth. I was close to death.

As for the rest. I am not saying you do not need your body. And that we should ignore all things concerning it. I am simply saying do not let those define you. Your mind, thoughts, feelings etc the define you. Not the clothes you wear.

So, your statement deals more with the idea of nonattachement, than it does with the idea that people are creations of pure thought?

My thoughts don't define me...my actions do, and yes, I have my own Death experience, which reaffirms to me not only is there life beyond death, but that my existence is beyond what you or anyone else can try to put into words.
