What can happen when you get rich people in a room together;

Supported by an impressive investor and advisor group, including Google’s Larry Page & Eric Schmidt, Ph.D.; film maker & explorer James Cameron; Chairman of Intentional Software Corporation and Microsoft’s former Chief Software Architect Charles Simonyi, Ph.D.; Founder of Sherpalo and Google Board of Directors founding member K. Ram Shriram; and Chairman of Hillwood and The Perot Group Ross Perot, Jr., the company will overlay two critical sectors – space exploration and natural resources – to add trillions of dollars to the global GDP. This innovative start-up will create a new industry and a new definition of ‘natural resources’.

The news conference will be held at the Museum of Flight in Seattle on Tuesday, April 24 at 10:30 a.m. PDT and available online via webcast.

Looks like they might try to start mining in outer space!! You'd think they'd need a lunar or orbital storage facility and have to do the processing onsite, which all means lots of crazy hardware - wow
:ohmy:

I think it's launching satellites that can tell where we(they) should mine stuff. not moon 2009 in 2012.

If they arent able to exploit the finds through mining I wonder if they'll try to claim what they find.... as in finders keepers losers weepers. I would have thought it would be possession is 9 tenths of the law, but I guess if they find something they could name it and if they used their corporate identity in the name it could imply ownership to some extent, if everyone is speaking the same language, either way it sounds like China might have some competition afterall;

Governments understand that, which is why China has put into motion plans to eventually mine the moon for Helium-3, a potentially valuable fuel source for future nuclear fusion plants. Helium-3 is rare on earth, but can be found in plentiful quantities within the moon’s crust.

Anyone know any space law or does it even exist!

Well usually it's finders, get subsidiary to buy land, mine and sell... Countries have their own regulations after that, where governments want their cut, companies have to be 50%owned by gvts, etc, but generally speaking, in places like africa and south america, it's "do whatever you want". incidentally, there's lots of interesting things to mine there.
